I know this sounds really stupid but I'm just all over the show! I got into Roehampton on clearing (I hated my insurance choice so rejected it). Does anyone know what college would be nearest where I'll study CLASSICAL CIVILISATION? Any help would be great ASAP please!!!

Classical Civilisation comes under the School of Arts at Roehampton. From the website:

"The School of Arts has approximately 145 academic staff, 2000 undergraduate students, and 400 postgraduate students and is predominantly located in Digby Stuart College and we also make extensive use of both specialist teaching space and offices at Southlands and Froebel College."

So my guess would be Digby Stuart, but I don't know for sure. If you go on Facebook there is a guy in the Roehampton freshers group called Bobby something, he's doing Classical Civilisation as well. I'll send you his profile link maybe he can answer your questions.

Hey I got into Roehampton through clearing also and I'm totally panicking about acomdation! I'm doing film and classical civilisation so I have no idea which collage to apply to? Where do I find out what is the nearest residence?

And if it is the digby collage (because of classics) then it says it is a catholic residence, does that mean it will enforce catholic rules? (same sex dorms etc)

Hey, I'm in Lee House, room LA102, I'm a guy and the only other person I've found so far in my flat is a girl, so I don't think there are any rules as such.
I think it's just the college was traditionally Catholic but that doesn't affect anything from the student side of things.

I think digby will be your college for the subjects your studying, but don't worry, each college has its own religion which is NOT enforced on any students. Also there arent any same sex dorms, especially in digby!

Basically, residences in Southlands, Digby and Froebel are within a 5-10 min walk of each other so really it doesnt matter where your accomodation is, because you wont be more than 10 minutes away from where your classes are. Digby has the most accomodation, so it'll probably be easier to get on there. If you do apply for digby accomodation, go for lee house as its the most modern and new, failing that shaw house is pretty good too.

Hope that helps!

Hey! I'm going to be doing Classical Civilisation at Roehampton this year (: I'm living on Digby Stuart, in Lee House, because that's where pretty much all of the course is taught i think.

Theres generally more people to a flat/hall in digby, so it'd probably be practically impossible to make them single sex.

Don't quote me on this, but I think that the curtains in Lee are blue/grey, as are the carpets. It was built at the same time as the Whitelands accommodation which does definitely have blue/grey curtains and carpets (and a red noticeboard) - well at least it did when I was there lol - and iirc I think they were both the same.
