Predictions

I reckon a 5 marker could be on Expiration/Inspiration, havem't seen that on any papers and I've done 2010 uni1 specimen paper, the jan 2010 uni1 paper and the jun 09 and jan 09 one.

Chlorea is also possible for a 5 marker

This paper sould be heavier on digestion, last unit had very little on digestion

Microscopes may come up too, barely mentioned in jan 2010 paper

If heart comes up, it'll be about cardiac cycle

Prokaryotic/Eukaryotic comparisions possible

Glucose-Sodium Cotransport was on 2010 speicmen paper, but its such a tough question, i'm surprised they havent yet used it in an actual exam, at least since prior to Jan 09.

Immunity, the order in which the system works etc (waht activates what)

A nice HSW ratio question (allows comparison)

Benedicts carbohydrates test (reducing and non-reducing)

Microscopes, digestion, prokaryotic/eukaryotic have been done. Doub they'll come up. Good point about lungs and cholera though.

Dumb question but what do you have to know about calculating percentages?

Microscopes were done very sparsely in Jan 2010 paper, yes, they were covered in Jan 09, but still, i reckon its a shout

Digestion focused on enzymes really, nothing about what each section of the system does

Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic only covered basic 'name organelle Y' etc etc, likely to be covered in more detail.

But I'd actually bet on Inspiration Expiration coming up, almost a dead cert.

Really

I thought it was generally around 80% for an A, 70 a B, 60 a C, etc

It usually is, but Biology is so specific to mark scheme its hard to get lots of marks and if it was like 80% for an A not many would get an A.

Like in psychology unit 1 in Jan 2010 I know it was 50% ish for an E and not 40%.
One girl got 66% in Unit 1 = C
One girl got 66% in unit 3 = A

Just how it works.

I think i can remember some exams being 65% for E in June 2009

Yeah I understand that, just usually when we've done mocks etc in classes 80/70/60 %'s have been used, I just assumed it was the same but the mark scheme is stricter really.

Yh my teacher does. I think on my very first unit 1 mock i got like 22/60 which should have been an E but because its not 40% my teacher put U lol.
