It was like a kick in the face. For 22.5 years I've been like "I love the look of Ireland and really want to visit Glasgow, even though they have a Scottish accent."
Not ashamed to say, I cried myself to sleep.

Haha, sorry if it sounded like I was just stating the bleeding obvious, what I meant was that it being in Scotland is another advantage of Glasgow uni!
Too late! You've made me feel like a right bleedin' idiot! :sigh:

Bath. The most beautiful city in the country; A world heritage site. The campus is not a large distance away from the city, and the campus is incredibly practical and has a small community vibe. We have shops, banks, post office, restaurants all situated on campus. Facilities are amazing. We were the first to have a 24hr Library; its huge and modern. We have some of the best sport facilities, rivalling Loughborough's sporting reputation. The student union is one of the best, and we have a newly built student centre, with many more developing plans on the way.

We are academically one of the very best in the country. In the latest Research Assessment Exercise, two thirds of Bath's individual subject submissions were ranked in the top ten nationally, including over a third in the top five (Source is from Wikipedia). We specialise in the sciences, and we are one of a few universities in the country that offer a placement year, to gain valuable work experience; this might be why we have such fantastic graduate prospects. The student community is diverse; around 25% of the students are international. Everyone is welcomed here, it's hard not to make friends!

Come to Bath. Its perfect...we have ducks.
i had a look round bath! the city is SO pretty and omg the ducks waddle along by themselves its adorable!!! are you going on a placement year though????

UCL. It's in the centre of London, one of the best cities in the world. I've been in London for over 3 years now and will never live anywhere else in the UK now.

Also it has an amazing academic reputation. My department staff are all incredibly nice and helpful, and not only do we have our own union but we also are next to the University of London Union.

Honestly though I love it, the uni the location the people, it's great :yep:

I have to agree with what everyone's already said about Glasgow! It's awesome!

The lecturers are so friendly and helpful, great social life, really good sports facilities (£40 for a year's gym membership), huge library (which has awesome views right across the city) and two unions!

    What more could you want?!

Without question the most enterprising, forward thinking and innovative university in Britain. As a result, you do feel that it is going places and has the potential, in 50 years time, to rival Oxbridge/LSE etc. Yes it does some things badly (i.e. ignore rankings and let in too many students), but it certainly has world domination in its sights and likes to think it is bloody good.

For example, it has a load of firsts. First university in the world to set up overseas campuses, with one in Kuala Lumpur, one in Ningbo, and now one about to be built in Shanghai. Loads of famous unis like Yale are apparently thinking of following suit, and they apparently contact Nottingham relentlessly to try and find out how much money they are making from these ventures (Notts is keeping very quiet on this score) Nottingham is also approached by loads of countries to set up campuses (Hong Kong one example) As a result, Nottingham has a USP that makes it stand out and gain respect from Vice Chancellors

It also was the first uni to set up and sponsor a school. Oxford, Imperial and others muted the idea, but Nottingham was the only one to take the plunge, establishing the Nottingham University Samworth Academy. It is also the first university to built a luxury hotel on its campus, which will be built next year.

It is also building loads of new buildings across its 5 UK campuses. It has also set up the UK's biggest and best funded business innovation park.

It complements this innovative spirit with a rich history. Its got that old prestige, est 1881, and past lectures include Einstein, Ghandi, H.G Welles etc.

Also got probably the best campus in the UK, with lots of nice period buildings and green manicured parks.

Also has an excellent academic reputation. Average rank of 12th across all UK rankings and average position of 10th for entry standards (since data started in 1992 at least), and consistently in the top 100 unis in the world.

Also a research powerhouse. 7th in the UK for research power, and in the past few years has been in the top 4 unis in the UK for research income from industry, and top 2 for success in getting research grants (above Oxford)

Also loved by employers. Always in the top 3-7 most targeted unis in the UK according to high fliers survey, and always in the top 25 in the world according to leading firms in the THES world rankings (2004-2010) Also described by the Virgin Alternative Guide to Universities as "one of the most employer friendly universities in the world"

Also has a notoriously great social life, both on campus and off campus. Moreover, its in the centre of England, and is easy to get too

In short, what more could you want?

I am maybe biased as I went there, but that list is pretty impressive. Shame more people dont know about what Nottingham has been getting up to.

    yeah, i'll say

most of that is utter tosh. this 'big up your university' is just a thread of people trying to persuade themselves that they didn't go to a not quite top notch uni. making up silly statements like 'Without question the most enterprising, forward thinking and innovative university in Britain.' isn't going to change that mate

I love my university. A lot. I don't quite know what you mean by 'top notch', but it feels pretty good to me...

Bye yeah, Nottingham guy here seems a little obsessive.
