I have been having chronic tension headaches for more than 6 years. It is true that I would feel my shoulder and neck muscles tightening when I have headaches.
I tried a lots of alternative therapy as well. Etc acupuncture, massage whatever. ...
Medicine that helped is amytritline but your body kinda get tolerant to it after some time. Currently, I use clonazapam. I pop 0.25 mg of tablet every time I feel the headache and pop another if not enough.

Bottom line: you need to have a strongly positive mindset to ge through this. Try clonazapam, maybe it might work for ya. And have close friends and families.

wowew man . i mean is it one long headache or headaches that you get,?

wow man 6 tears , i mean is the headache constant ie has it been one long headache non stop everyh second of everyday for 6 years or sometimes it stops?
I just got prescribed 25mg of antitrytaline and before that i had 10mg for about 3 months and didnt make a difference.
so praying to god 25 mg will do something to me....
the only thing that has got me past the few years is being positive. Thats the way foward, listen to music,, laughing and havin fun with friends. If it wasn't for that i dont know how i would feel.
Just knowing in myself that i can pull through and not be overcome and fail. This is motivation . I know that one day i will restore normal health and then my life will become normal again. I will succeed.

I have my French oral exam on Tuesday and i wanted to practice today but i cudnt as my headache was so bad i literally. Cudnt even work today. I did some maths only. This is six out of seven days for me. Does anyone know ithe examiners who mark oral exams would take into account illnesses that perturbe speech and concentration when speaking

Hey, how did your French exam go??? Had a thought, it may sound strange but have you considered going to a Pilates or yoga class?? I attend a Pilates class once a week and although I find that I can't do some off the stretches or moves the teacher gives me an alternative and there are people at the class who have back, neck or hip problems so there are some things they can't do so I don't feel like the odd one out?? Xxx

Hey, I haven't taken amatriptyline but I took the sister med nortriptyline which does the same thing but is easier to take as it has less side effects. I'm back taking it again at the moment but am only up to 20mg as I keep forgetting to ring my doctor :/ I would suggest that unit is making you feel that bad speak to you doctor about coming off of it or lowering it until after your exams then being playing around with your meds, but suggest nortriptyline as I find that it helps to level out my headache and the only side effect I get is tiredness when i first started taking it or when I up it. hi there the side effects ceased after a few hours however throughout the day i felt weird and the headache was slighly worse, but my muscles seem like they are melting which is probably a good sign. idk but hopefully overtime they become looser. the medicine is supposed to relax muscles, i think i can see it happening. However the headahce is still very bad. This is only first day, however i dont know whether to risk taking it tonight as i will probably have a few hours of really feeling ill tomorrow and i need to work for exams.

Hey, how are you getting on with the amitriptyline?? I've increased my dose of nortriptyline to 30mg (when I finally remembered to call my doctor) and so far there is no change :frown: but I'm hoping that after my exams next week I can increase it again and with the stress of exams over it would be nice if that dropped the level oft headache, but I'm not holding my breath. i cold.feel a melting jard to desrribe but like my muscles especially.jaw felt like they were melting so there was some.effect
but as you know antitrytaline more than me should i continie taking it ie will the drowsiness decrease in length the mkre i tale it? Im really strugglimg with the pain of my headache in life amd especially.in these exam.seasons
where i require to concemtratiom to figure oit a nard maths sum itl take me ages amd hurt my head increasing pain amd slows.down the rate at which work. But im hopeless

Hey, I'm sorry to hear that your head is that bad :frown: I'm taking 30mg or Nortriptyline as I know that the only time I get bad side effects from that is when I first increase it so I did that hair over a week ago. I would suggest that instead of not taking anything I would just continue to take a lower dose so that you are still taking something. Hopefully a lower dose would have less side effects??
I agree very much with you about the friends side of things. They know about my headaches but don't understand how someone can have a headache constantly. There is always something different between me and my friends that makes me feel left out as I'm always trying to get ride of my headache or taking god knows how many tablets :frown: my family get it but they don't really ask me how my headache is anymore as they know that there is nothing that they can do. yes good idea il take 10mg until exams
yes you are absolutely right, they dont understand that its constant, everysecond mf my life, never ever ever ceases or has done so, every second, i wake up with it go to sleep with it. i work with it. Therefore i like going out socialising as it allows me to forget about it for a few hours, however i dislike doing this because of work and exams and it takes away precious time.

It's like reading my headache diary. We are in the same boat. Life has to go on! Can't wait till my exams are over and I can then focus on me and trying to sort out my head, but also have some me time without having to worry about my headache interfering  xxx

When I first started having the headaches my osteopath suggest that I keep a diary of what my headache was like each day but I was rubbish at remembering to do it so I then started to just keep a level diary in my school planner as I rate my headache on a scale of 1 to 10 but the problem with that was the more I think about my headache the more frustrated with it I get which made it worse so I began to draw smilie faces for each day  = good day :/ = average day :frown: = bad day. Coming up to 3 years now with the length of my headache :frown: far to long but hey ho if that the way it has to be then so be it. At the moment in feel both emotionally an physically drained so going out with my friends like you help me to forget about it for a while and enjoy life. My neck is horrendous at the moment due to sitting at a desk and poor sitting posture but seeing the osteopath next week after my exams so hopefully he can relieve it and then I can try and keep it at a good level with the constant studying xxx

It doesn't change really, but that depends on what I'm doing, eating things that contain caffeine and chocolate can make it worse and exercise can also make it worse. But normally it sits at about a 7 when I'm taking the Nortriptyline but at the moment it is bad so sat nearer an 8 :frown: xxx

Nortriptyline is pretty much the same as Amitriptyline from what my doctor said but it is easier to take as although the side effects are similar to that of amitriptyline they aren't as bad xxx
