Grow up! Clearly you have no idea what feminism is about. Feminists are not victims, nor do they act like it. Please just type into google, feminism, modern feminism and educate yourself.

I'm glad that decades of women before us weren't as stupid as to think that Feminism is a bad thing.
Of course, because it was relevant in the past it must still be relevant now. Bring forth the man with the leaches!

Don't get sucked in. You'll argue til you're hoarse and get nowhere. They've made their minds up on what feminism is, and the harder you try and persuade them the more they'll insist they're correct. Have a biscuit and a cup of tea, far more rewarding than arguing with strangers online

I guarantee they'll be earning a damn sight more than most feminists. You don't get paid for whining on Tumblr.
I don't go on Tumblr and I really don't care how much they earn. I don't see why that has anything to do with anything.
These women are saying "they don't need feminism" the same feminism that saw women campaign so they were entitled to the same education and opportunities as boys so they are educated enough to be able to right so they can make those silly signs.

Women are forgetting how much feminism has done for women and whether they like it or not if they believe in equal opportunities for women by definition they are feminists as is anyone male or female who believes this.

I disagree with radical feminism and fighting things that really don't matter and doing things like not shaving their armpits and stuff, if they want to do that sure I've gone a week or 2 without shaving my legs because I couldn't be bothered I don't agree with the ones that do it as some sort of demonstration and I didn't feel disgusted by it because "society has brainwashed me into thinking body hair on women is unattractive" because they haven't. People need to separate what they see on TV or magazines or porn or whatever as real life because it's not and you will get a girlfriend who one day has stubbly legs and you most likely won't care and when she can become more comfortable with herself (like a lot of girls are not). I don't look at myself in the mirror and expect to see how the airbrushed models look.

Basically I think there is a lot of negative attitudes towards modern day feminism because it's misrepresented if you speak to a lot of everyday women who aren't constantly on social media making situations out of everything you'd see the real issues that are trying to be changed not the trivial stuff and that we aren't all men hating hairy masculine monsters and how women like that who are completely misguided about what modern day feminism is are really hurting the movement.

No it doesn't if I ask you to make me a sandwich a feminist would go mad, but a decent anti feminist would say yes and we'd both be happy and not argue.
    It's simple things like this.
Well I believe in feminism, and I don't go mad when anyone asks me for a sandwich. That's a completely radical approach, and just shows what the radical feminists have done to ruin to feminism for the rest of us.

I don't agree with radical feminism but those girls on facebook really need to educate themselves, feminism is not about armpit hair, it's about being given the choice to pursue whatever life you want, raise a family, have a career, or have BOTH it's about being having the chance to be independent & self sufficient. That is equality being given the chance to lead a life you want

Shame feminism has given them the chance to learn how to write those signs and use those computers. I hope none of them vote or have jobs or speak unless spoken to. I hope the only do what their father and then their husband tells them to do. I hope they own no land or houses. Because otherwise they'd be ****ing hypocrites.

I'm a feminist because I believe in equality for ALL genders every where in the world and the replies on this thread just show me how much we still need feminism.

It depends in what context. If I'm being paid I'll make anyone a sandwich. Otherwise they can do it themselves. Whoever they are.

    Wow. :adore:

    https://www.facebook.com/WomenAgainstFeminism

A group of heroic women have been standing up and saying no to the increasingly radical feminist movement, taking a stand against their attempts to paint all women as victims who need special treatment.

I have my utmost respect for these women. Unlike feminists, who use feminist ideology to make excuses for and justify their own failings, these anti-feminist women are taking control of their lives and don't seek to blame others for bad things that happen to them.

I'm pleased this group is growing and gaining media attention. Hopefully, they can begin to stem the tide of young women damaging their futures by turning towards feminism, and can help to create a generation of confident and responsible young women who take responsibility for themselves and refuse to blame others.
In my opinion this is what true feminism is. My mother was a feminist. she actually did practical things and taught me a feminism that was radically different to the feminism i see around now. real feminism has been sabotaged and murdered by these new "feminists." they are lazy and have incredibly bizarre targets to focus on. it also seems to be incredibly narcissistic looking for problems that mildly effect 1st world women. rather than being in anyway sincerely concerned about the genuine discrimination that women face elsewhere in the world. I call these feminists Neo-Feminists. but i think my attempt is in vain. the term feminism has been lost to these new self centered idiots.

But the only reason you find no hair attractive is because of societal pressures, trends and crafty advertising which led women to believe they needed to shave.
Nope, we find it attractive because we like the look of it.

    Why?

If I want leg hair - why does that bother you?
Well, most guys find it unattractive. Therefore, he is saying it is a "no-no" because he would not want a gf with leg hair because he would not be attracted to it. Is that concept hard to comprehend?

The feminists achieved that ages ago. They should therefore stop, but they're now trying to secure unearned privileges, which is not on.
    (Original post by TheAnusFiles)
    Used to promote.
There are different strands of feminism, like equal rights, opportunities and autonomy is different to feminism that claims page 3 etc is exploiting women. The former is what I associate with feminism and while it was a while ago it was relevant, the idea that women and men are equal is important

And that's what happens since you allowed those *****es to take over and use the same label, glad this movement exists.

Ironic that the group is, in its own way, feminist.

Those rights have been achieved now. Those women are not saying that feminism has never been useful, they are saying that feminism is no longer useful. What rights are there for women still to fight for? You have legal equality now, any further campaigning for state intervention will see you acquiring unearned privileges.

Wow. I think the people who claim to be anti-feminists don't understand what feminism is. It's not man hating. It's a concept and movement which has developed and changed since Simone de Beauvoir and indeed the 70's. Feminism is not about body hair, it's something which relates to society, history and culture. But seriously, body hair is not the 'big' issue in modern feminism.
Feminism is an ever changing and developing concept which is constantly evolving, making it very hard to define rigidly. This is part of the problem. If you had a clear cut definition of what feminism is about, I think people would be less likely to get confused and make it out to be something it's not.
A Common misconception about feminism is that its a women's issue. It's not, it's an inclusive concept/movement, that should matter to everyone, regardless of sex. Men can be feminists.
One of the most groundbreaking theorists of our age in gender theory, is philosopher Judith Butler. What she says really represents modern day (3rd wave) feminism. Look her up, I would recommend 'Gender Trouble' as a starting point.
In brief, she argues that gender and sex are two different things. Sex being biological and gender a social construct. She also introduces this notion of gender performativity. It's really ground-breaking and interesting stuff that also links into homosexuality discourse.
She also raises the point that old-school feminism doesn't fully represent women, because it fails to take into account for differences between women such as socio-economic status, race etc...

If you're interested check this Ted Talk out, it's about domestic violence, but raises some intersting general points around linguistics -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTvSfeCRxe8

A better understanding of gender constructs does not only benefit women but everyone, and this idea of benefiting all, really lies at the heart of modern day feminism.

And let's just remember that less than a 1/3 of the most high powered jobs in the UK are held by women... this is baffling as women are no less capable than men. You have got ask why this is, especially when females outperform males academically during school and university.

So shame on those so called antifeminists!!! I'm sure if you actually realised what you were talking about then you would be pretty shocked to hear yourselves.

I'm a feminist and proud of it!
What you are basically saying here is that feminists don't hate men, but do hate masculinity.

Essentially, what feminists want to do is oppress free speech and infiltrate our education system in order to impose a set of values that undermine the masculinity of men.

Judith Butler's radical ideas are being implemented in schools across Scandinavia. These schools try to make men adopt feminine traits and women adopt masculine traits, supported by a draconian amount of state intervention, but it actually hasn't worked. They've succeeded in making women feel entitled and men feel outcast from society, but they haven't changed the percentages of males/females in different sectors of the economy nor have they increased female economic productivity. They have increased the number of women in boardrooms but this has been through forcing businesses to rather than a greater number of women demonstrating competency to perform the role.

Right, because rape and sexual assault aren't massive problems? Because women in third world countries aren't oppressed? Because women who want a career and children aren't told they're selfish and having-it-all whilst this is seen as fine for men? Because it's not assumed that a woman will give up her job for her children? Because dolls aren't considered 'girl's toys' and construction and science 'boy's toys'? Because women in science are taken seriously? Because gender roles aren't enforced? Because when a couple divorces the man has an equal chance in getting custody of the children? Because there aren't people who want to take away my right to an abortion should I get pregnant?
