Homosexual activity? They're not bending each other over and screwing, they're sharing a little kiss - are you insane?

A lot of people's moral and religious beliefs offend millions but they are entitled to voice them. We should be entitled to do the same. It's only negative to those who view love in a warped way, such as yourself.

No, they don't support 'homosexuality' they support the right to live and let live. I assure you that when racism was a huge thing many years ago, showing a photo of a white person and a black person kissing would have been absolutely unthinkable and disgusting, to many who claimed their religion supported their views. You would never accept such nonsense today because that's what it is: nonsense.

Furthermore, okay - lets just remove everything slightly controversial to appease hatred and disgust and suppress those who just want to live a normal life.

and a number of others can be seen as offensive to a section of people who use google and youtube, therefore - remove it. That is essentially your argument. Weak. Just weak. Doesn't have a leg to stand on. What do you do when you see something you do not wish to see? Oh, you move past it. Therefore, do the same and shut up and leave people be.

Keep in mind that what you just said is complete crap; if same-sex interaction makes you feel uncomfortable or whatever then you have a deep-rooted prejudice on the issue, whether you wish to accept that or not. Adios.
Not sure why this has become a thread of ignorance and hate instead of humane debate, discussion, and sensibility. That's the problem with TSR these days, full of injudicious people who start spewing nonsense instead of knowing how to talk about the subject at hand maturely. None of my posts in this thread were offensive to anyone, in fact my initial post was aimed at a poster who I had closed the debate with. I am not in any way related to the homophobic comments posted here by other posters.

To add to this, this isn't even something that I wanted to escalate to this level. Know that my OP was a comment in an existing thread, and a moderator had created this thread out of it without me knowing.

Speaking for myself here, the hate I am receiving for simply stating facts such as two men kissing intimately is homosexual activity, which it is, is plain stupid. If you do not know the definition of terms, then do not comment here as though I have said something else. And, how I feel nauseous when seeing that - do realise that this is something I can not change. Whilst also stating I in actual fact do not have any hatred towards homosexual people; if someone was to ask me how I feel towards homosexual people, I'd say good for them.

I have homosexual friends, and it is truly awkward and off putting for many people, who are not homophobic, to see them kissing, and they recognise this and appreciate this in public.

I would have asked a similar question if I had noticed a large amount of avatars that suddenly show a woman and man kissing.

The point of my OP if we are to even call it that, was to a poster, where I simply stated that changing ones avatar to display two men kissing as a way of supporting homosexuality is not a good way to do so, and it is rather immature, as this is a public forum. You have mentioned areas like YouTube and have even linked a video, know that to watch these videos you will need to search for the content, something I wouldn't do, if that makes sense, likewise with pornography. If I all of a sudden decided to support nudity against another group, is it OK for me to change my avatar to display nude ? That's a bit stupid is it not ? I'm not comparing two men kissing to be similar to nudity, I'm just saying people should realise that there is a LARGE proportion of people who though are not homophobic, view homosexual activity as sensitive and off putting. I did not ask or expect anyone to change their avatars, I was simply saying, that method of protest is not great in a public forum or area.

To conclude, I was frowning upon that particular means of protest, not against homosexual people. This is why whichever mod made this thread out of my comment was wrong to do so and titled the thread incorrectly.

I am aware you interpreted my OP as homophobic as I assume you did not read my other posts, so that's understandable. I am against a lot of things that some people have posted here who support my views, because they have posted clear homophobic slurs which I would happily stand and protest against.

Some people do not acknowledge homosexual activity as normal
    And?

Some people do not acknowledge interracial 'activity'(/relationships) as 'normal'.

I'll be damned if I ever pander to the sensitivities of such bigoted morons.

I agree, you had a respectful debate with me, we conflicted in views but certainly we didn't insult eachother and I appreciate that. It was a mature conversation even though I still disagree. It was when this was turned into a thread I suppose it was easier to attack you personally. Although when I was talking about idocy on this thread, it was more towards muslimstanisyed since he told me my picture was 'disgusting' and it should be taken down. It was then when I found it offensive.

But I disagree with what you have just said, I don't think me (us) changing our avatars is 'immature'. We had a point to make originally, which was against the poster who said it was innapropriate to have an avatar of two men kissing, that was our inital motive but then it turned into a more positive as more users did it.

Yes but no one's doing that here. If one is left disgusted at the site of two people of the same gender just kissing, and goes so far as to want it banned because it offends their beliefs or religious views, one has to wonder where their anger at it all comes from. It's also ONLY directed at the LGBT+ community, which should also tell you something.

If you are fine with the avatars and my assumption was incorrect then my apologies.
The reason I'm not on board with the whole "Lets bash the homophobes" thing that's going on here is because the very foundation of our society is supposed to be Freedom of Speech and Belief. Yet despite all of this there are SOME people not all -please- let me stress this that are being just as bad as the people they are supposed to be criticizing and personally, I think people are fully in the right to not agree with it if they don't want to.
Look at this thread, a couple have people have resorted to spamming it with gifs of gay men kissing to prove some kind of point. As a neutral member this screams immaturity to me and makes me not want to defend the gay side which is a shame because I do believe that homosexuals deserve more credit than some people give them.

As for the "Whole LGBT" community thing, I think if you were to actually ask some of the people opposing this, you'll find they'd be just as uncomfortable if a load of people started having images of straight couples sticking their tongues down their throat.

People are always going to have differing opinions, but there needs to be mutual respect for each other, which I feel yourself and I have established.

I have spoken my views; changing your avatar to something that a lot of people find sensitive an awkward in a public forum, is not the right way to protest, though I support the intention of your avatar and posts.

You have gone about and told me why you believe that it's fine, and I have said to you I respect and admire your eloquence . I have shown that I recognise and appreciate other peoples thoughts, but have to do deal with people questioning me in ways such as "Are you sure you're not homophobic?" which is simply outrageous and unfair. How dare people question my ethics?

It's unfortunate that I have been attacked by some on this thread, and what's more unfortunate is that a mod made this thread what it is.

Bashing homophobes in the sense of ripping their arguments to shreds and seeing them for the idiots they are doesn't negate free speech, in the same way bashing racists wouldn't. You still have the right to state your opinion, but that doesn't mean no one can criticise it. It also means, if you hold an unfair intolerance toward a group of people, people will criticse you as a person for holding such a viewpoint, or at least judge you for it.

No, they wouldn't. There are many pics of straight love or couples kissing around the forum, noone has made a fuss about it or batted an eye. Indeed, noone has even tried to state that in this thread. Even the homophobes fully acknowledge that they'd be fine with seeing a man and woman kiss, but a gay couple? Nope. In their eyes, such hypocrisy is perfectly fine, and they expect people to accommodate their intolerance...

EDIT: posting those gifs isn't really spam since the entire topic is on some people wanting to ban such gifs/pics from existing on this forum in the first place. Again, noone has a problem with straight couples kissing in gif form or otherwise. Why do a vulnerable minority have to pander to and please the intolerant side of the majority?

Okay, firstly, my responses are only so short and sharp because I have debated this topic so many times over the past few years. Enough times, even, to learn you get nowhere and you go round and round in circles.

No one is attacking you. You're calling something fact which is not, it's what you are deciding is homosexual activity. It's a kiss. Grow up. You need to deal with your own insecurities then; if two men kissing makes you feel physically sick your problems go far beyond hating an image. Just because you say "good for them" means nothing. People do that bull**** everyday, professing they have "nothing against homosexuals" before completely berating them and being like, "yeah, as long as it's behind closed doors" - oh, okay, it's ok as long as it can't really be seen as a thing? Excellent. How ridiculous.

I understand having an aversion to seeing PEOPLE kiss in public. I do not kiss my other half in public when I date, simply because I have respect for those who find that a little uncomfortable. But you are focusing completely on the fact it is two men kissing. Not once have you just plainly spoken about public displays of affection and so on. Your focus is not on that, that's why.

I would have asked why that was happening because there's no reason for it to happen. There's a reason for it to be occurring this way round.

It is not immature to show love. It's immature to feel physically sick at the sight of a couple kissing - that's actually laughable. Please note you are talking complete crap yet again. Those videos, images, stories, are broadcast across the internet in different places. Same Love was on the news when it was released and was played at an awards ceremony and if you were just watching that, it would appear. You do not need to actively seek it out and Pornography is completely different and incomparable. They are not the same thing. The only reason they view homosexual activity as off-putting is because of prejudice and the issue being a taboo. Why do you not get this? Wow.

Good. I respect the way you are putting your views but I do not for one minute agree with them and it's probably best to leave it at that because as I said at the beginning, this can and will go on forever.

EDIT: There are also some music videos, such as Lana Del Rey's 'Music To Watch Boys To' which feature same-sex scenes but have nothing to do with same sex issues and thus you would not know when searching.

There's a difference between having an opinion and voicing one which you know will harm others. Do you understand how damaging anti-gay views are to a lot of LGBT people? Because if you don't, please allow me to elaborate.

I'll be honest and say I haven't read all the pages of this thead because I just didn't want to. I think the whole avatar protesting thing was/is a great idea so I didn't really want to hear peoples homophobic opinions on it.

But no I have to admit, you didn't insult me, nor did I insult you. It was a calm debate, I also understood your points but obviously I disagreed thus my avatar has not been changed.

I actually have no problem with you at all, unlike others on this thread I haven't actually called you a 'homophobe' because you were able to explain why you felt uncomfortable about it. You also didn't directly insult homosexual people by calling it 'disgusting' and 'wrong' although you did say 'distasteful' but I have reason to believe you were mostly talking about out method of protest and not gay people in general. Also you never said homosexuality was wrong, therefore I don't belive you are a homophobe.

I get that you were talking about our method of protest and so was I orginally. I also get why you angry about it. Fair enough tbh. Because since the debate turned into the thread the whole point changed.

So basically what I am saying, I understand why you don't feel linked with the rest of the homophobic opinions on this thread since your initial debate was with me and you didn't come from a homophobic place, I didn't think you did either because I never called you homophobic originally.

Anyway don't worry, I understand what you meant origanally and we live in a world where we can't all have the same opinions. But aslong as we live in peace with eachother thats all that matters. You never said gay people are digusting, unnatural etc. So I am on your side here. Really it should have remained a debate between us but whatever...

I do actually frown upon public displays of affection, but it doesn't make me sick to see a heterosexual couple making out, but I didn't speak about this because that wasn't the point of my OP, the point of my OP is the immature act of changing your avatar to display this, as it is sensitive to a large audience, and now also people spamming the thread with such content.

And to conclude Sir, the definition of homosexual activity is very clear, romantic attraction between members of the same sex. This is not MY definition, this is THE definition.

And please do not question my integrity. If I say I am not homophobic, then I am not, so long as I do not display any homophobic traits. Making assumptions without evidence is the dumbest thing anyone can do in a debate, it nullifies all of what you speak, be it truth or not.
