So you'd happily live with a peadophile, then?

Afterall "ALL forms of discrimination are wrong".
Paedophilia is illegal. You can't compare it to homosexuality.

The comment I made about peadophiles is a valid one. After all, it's another form of sexual orientation is it not?
No, it's a sexual perversion like necrophilia. I can't imagine you want to live with someone who brings corpses home to have sex with. Nor can I imagine you'd want to live with someone who did something illegal in a premises you occupied, like dealing drugs or human trafficking. And learn to spell paedophile already.

Who a person chooses to be is not in question.
What is in question is how they choose to conduct themselves.

I've got nothing against train spotters. However, I wouldn't want to live with one if they thrust their penchant in my face.
I'm sure you wouldn't want to live with me for very long given my front room is filled with parts from a 30 year old car in various states of restoration and condition.
Who a person is and what they stand for inevitably comes out, especially when you live with them. If you do not subscribe to their beliefs and ideologys why would you want to subject yourself to it?

The comment I made about peadophiles is a valid one. After all, it's another form of sexual orientation is it not?

In a society where it is actively encouraged to discriminate against such a person, I doubt you can honestly tell me that you would not think twice about living with such a person because of their particular penchant?
The thing about playing the morality card, is you have to be prepared to play it all the time. You can't just pick and choose it when it suits you.
its illegal jackass.

50 years ago. Sleeping with 12 year olds used to be legal and now it's not. What's your point?

one is consensual sex between two adults. the other is shagging a child, there is a reason one is not illegal and the other still is.

I wouldn't have an issue with sharing a flat with a paedophile. I wouldn't want to share a flat with a child molester.

Can I remind everyone that paedophilia is not illegal, child abuse and child pornography are illegal.

Can I also request that we don't take this on a tangent, or the thread will be on a one way road to closedville.

People who have fantasies about children are either touched in the head or have mutant genes. Either way they should be locked up, to prevent they're genes spreading. Psych ward I think.

I wouldn't live with him.
Don't worry about being homophobic - its his choice to be gay and its your choice to disagree with him. It's a social problem, imagine if everyone was gay, the human race couldn't survive.

I'm a guy at uni and have been starting to look at houses to live in for next year. I'm possibly going to share with 4 close friends and a 5th person who is a friend of one of the 4. When I met the 5th person recently I could tell he was gay straight away (the way he spoke, clothes etc). Later on he eventually said he was gay.
I spoke to one of my friends and said I wasn't sure if I wanted to go ahead with the move if this gay bloke was moving in too. I said I wasn't comfortable around him, found him irritating and didn't want him bringing back loads of guys into my house. My friend then accused me of being homophobic and unreasonable and he said think about it for a while and tell me what you want to do. I don't think i'm being unreasonable at all. Surely alot of people wouldn't want to share a house for 1 or 2 years with a gay bloke. Am I being unreasonable?
Yeah, you're being pretty homophobic. Why shouldn't he bring back guys to the house? Would you have a problem if he was bringing back girls? Grow up.

Raping children isn't going to be acceptable any time soon. Consensual sex between adults is legal across the board. That's all there is to it. I don't see why you're trying to equate paedophilia and homosexuality.

The point is that you should not feel obliged to live with anyone or anything that you feel a degree of animosity towards.

He isn't.
He clearly doesn't WANT to live with a homosexual. He is not obliged to!
