I've seen so many conflicting opinions on this, as in between 20 and 45! :/ It's really confusing me.

I've been writing them in about 35 mins (including planning), but whatever works for you. I guess it depends on how fast you can write.
I've been told leave about 35 + 5 minutes planning, but I always have longer than that left after the questions so there's enough breathing room to take your time writing and planning .

i feel like those would be ok, because you can gain easy marks from saying basic stuff like "it's made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen"

I mentioned to a friend today that I'm gonna do my essay plan first and then do the rest of the paper in case I remember stuff or find anything useful along the way (as opposed to having to squeeze stuff in halfway through writing the essay) and then do the essay at the end. My teacher agreed that that's a good way of doing it

I have done all the past papers and know/understand most of the content. Does anybody have any other questions based on the spec to test our understanding? Cheers!

Yes, you must remember them to an accuracy of 0.1 degree or you'll get 0 marks.. AQA is harsh =[
