That cant be right surely? In the case of Resp/Sleep that would mean out of 30 interviewed there would be 10 offers and 10 reserves? Seems a lot.

Edit: Seems like thats the truth then! Seems abit much to me.

I think it is the same nr of places available so 1:1.
Yeah - I have been informed that interview places are 3:1; the top third at interview get offers, the middle third get reserved, and the bottom third are unsuccessful.

Yep, but as I said it is no effort on behalf of NSHCS to keep people on reserve.

Sorry- more questions! Keeping my mind busy.

In regards to a reserve list, surely you aren't just ranked, would it not have to take into account preferences? As they will have to have a reserve for every preference? If that makes sense?

If you get an offer you can opt into upgrades, so if a place higher up on your preferences becomes available, you will get the offer for there instead, and then someone else will fill your original offer

You're ranked on performance, then if a place becomes available you will be offered it as long as it is not on your will not accept list. If it is somewhere you would not accept then I guess it gets offered to the next person down. I think you can still accept with upgrades, so if a higher ranked place then becomes available you could be offered that.

This is somewhat speculative though, I definitely would not take my word as fact as this is my first year applying. Just putting it together based on what I read on last years thread.

Complicated old process this! trying to explain it to friends and family is tiring! I just want to hear now- although it seems hearing you are on a reserve list is going to extend this feeling for a few more weeks :/

I work in Medical Physics and would advise anybody that is unsuccessful to apply for actual jobs. There are still not enough physicists to go round, especially for smaller departments (like mine). The past three posts we have filled have been with physics graduates who have then gone on to register either via Route 2 (experience + portfolio) or gone for an in-service STP post. Plus if you go for a practitioner level job (band 4 or 5), you are getting good experience for either STP or Trainee Clinical Scientist posts (non-STP).
I take that is just a case of just searching the NHS jobs website?

The person ranked highest at interview gets their top preference; the 2nd highest ranked gets their first choice (unless the top person took it, at which point the second person gets their second choice). It filters down until everyone hears back that way. So if you don't hear straight away it doesn't mean you're not getting an offer - you may just be further down the list...

Hey that isn't how it works. They don't wait for people higher up the list to accept if your top position has been offered to someone you will then get offered the next one down. It can take a couple of weeks before people accept an offer, so they can't wait for that before they offer the next person down. Hope that helps

Ah, I never meant they had to accept it. But yes, it can take a while for things to settle.

I haven't, but if you wanted to and let us know that would be super useful!
I'm meant to be writing essays but can't concentrate, keep refreshing emails every 5 minutes!

I have phoned them. They said it will be this week sometime... They are working through each specialism, so some might hear today, some tomorrow and so on. Super annoying.

They also said, if you have interview complete now, it is likely you will be offered a place or be on reserve.

Really well that is a relief at least. After getting a change to interview unsuccessful last week I was convinced the other specialism would follow, been so on edge!!! I realise it still isn't a guarantee that I'll get at the very least reserve, but fingers crossed!!!

My specialism was interviewed the first week and theres only 15 places so I'm hoping that it will be one of the first to be released. I just want news haha, whether it's good or bad; just so I can get on with my week!

    Good lucky everyone!
