Great stuff from Alize - deserved that win, but where does Serena go from here?

She'll put an almighty effort into winning the US Open, that's her only hope of saving a disappointing season

I would love it if Lisicki could win it this year, especially after her mental collapse in the final last year, she definitely has the ability

Double slam for Sharapova? Venus is still in.

Raonic through but Nikishori 2 sets to 1 down.

Ermm, didn't Venus get knocked out by Kvitova?

    Yes Venus lost yesterday.

I'd love for Lisicki to win this year after she froze up so badly last year. She's likely going to have to go through Sharapova to do it though.

Janowicz-Robredo and Nishikori-Bolleli have both entered fifth sets. I wonder if they'll be able to get through complete the matches.

It's amazing how quickly things can change in tennis - would she still be the favourite heading into the US Open by August end? That is the real question...

Yeah it's shocking considering it was only last year when she won 2 slams and now she can't even reach the second week. I think for her to be seem as a favourite for the US Open she has to win a couple of the lead up events because right now she's a doubt for the 2nd week. It's so strange how unpredictable the women's game is compared to the men's, I mean imagine if Nadal and Djokovic were out already, really puts into perspective what the Big 4 have been able to do

Nadal has been knocked out before the second in the two previous Wimbledon and last year Federer was knocked out early as well. Surprised happen both sides

Anyway Serena is nowhere near done IMO. It seems like there's something wrong mentally but physically she can still go on for 2 more years I think. Her coach knows something is wrong with her(doesn't sound like he knows how to fix it though) and yesterday she was playing too safe and just pushing the ball but when she was actually aggressive and played her game she looked good and nearly made a comeback in each set.

I don't think you could really say Serena isn't favourite to win the US Open, even with her bad results at RG and Wimbledon.

Good chance we'll get a second instalment of Sharapova v Bouchard in the next round though, hoping Bouchard can get revenge for her loss at the French.

I'm not saying surprises don't happen on the men's side too but Djokovic and Nadal going out in the first week in back to back slams- that'd be a momentous shock but that's what's happened with the women. Of course Serena isn't done, she still goes into every slam as a contender as when she plays her game no one can touch her

That return winner on match point from Djokovic was a bit of a stunner.

Up there with his return vs Federer at 15-40 at the US 2011.

First time Djokovic has really impressed me so far. He looked mentally strong and prepared to go toe to toe with Tsonga where he's looked mentally weak at times this year and in the tournament. I really hope we get the Murray/ Djokovic semi because it could be an all time classic if they play at the level they've shown they can so far. Can't wait for Dimitrov vs Murray though should be amazing!!

Really? Talk about jumping the gun. Dimitrov is improving all the time but he's nowhere near the Big 4 even slam winners like Wawrinka and Del Potro at full health are nowhere near reaching their level of dominance and consistency

The only guy who's up there with them and could take the number 1 ranking from them is Del Potro but he lacks consistency.

I'm pretty sure Raonic has the best slam record of the young 3.
