Has anyone ever made the transition from pornstar to serious actress?

    :teeth:

Surely they're films that suit quite different moods? :p:
Yes, there are many users here that have made the transition. :ninja:

I am in the mood for a blockbuster. :moon:

I thought it was much better than the god-awful third film. It had quite an interesting War of the Worlds feel to it at times. It wasn't a patch on the second though.
Oh yeah point the 3rd one was pretty rubbish. I just felt they could've shown how skynet took over rather than text on a screen saying 1 year later: Skynet takes over the world - it made it feel like there was a movie missing.

What do people think of Sam Worthington as an actor? :holmes: Bearing in mind his roles in Terminator Salvation, Avatar and Clash of the Titans.

Bit late but I watched The Expendables a few weeks ago.

Pretty hard to summarise my reaction to it to be honest - it's like it's awful yet it's a bit good.

The storyline is awful and the effects are awful, probably due to the fairly low-budget, however the actors within it do boost it a fair amount. Possibly the most manly film ever and my friend who's insanely proud of his arms was almost weeping throughout, especially when he saw Stallone and Crews.

I did leave the cinema thinking it was pretty awful though, the only consoling thing (which is pretty sad I know) is that it's made me set my mind of joining the gym when I get to university as to stay in shape.

Just realised I've used the word awful several times, so that'll be my overall judgement of the film.

He certainly started his career on a high note. Not a lot of actors get that opportunity. I think he is a fairly decent actor. Wouldn't rate him highly though.

James Cameroon did see something in him....

Though that essentially was the spirit with which the film was made to be honest. It was intended to a homage to the 80s/90s movies of awful storylines but lots of action with one liners. :p:

I heard the cameo scene was pretty cringey?

Haha ah right! What really annoyed me was the credits at the start - they continued for ages and sort of took away from the beginning of the film. It wasn't majorly important just bad post-production.

Haha yeah it was pretty awful

He reminds me of that Anakin Skywalker (Star Wars prequels)/Jumper actor. You know, that wooden personality that came across in his films :nothing:

    Awful :p:

Have you seen/will you be seeing the A-Team? I would be interested to see how you would compare that with the Expendables - though they are somewhat different movies. :holmes:

Haha, I'm very critical about films when I watch them

Nope not yet! Hm I may do though, I wouldn't say it looks fantastic to be honest, obviously an action-packed film with less star-quality actors than The Expendables but probably more funds for better effects and probably a better storyline.

If I end up watching it I'll get back to you with my analysis

He has the potential to be a damn good actor. Check out his earlier work, such as Somersault, and you'll see he can be a fantastic character actor. In a way, it's a shame he has jumped straight into blockbusters now, as he might not ever reach his full potential now.

Nah, it was one of the best scenes in the movie. :p:

Only just realised that the film review competition this time round is for Cloverfield.

I did a microanalysis of it in my first year of college for Film Studies :woo:

Think I'll watch it again soon and write up the cheesiest, metaphor and cliché filled review ever

EDIT: Just realised that it's being shown on Film4 on Monday 30th August (9.00-10.35pm).

Really? Channel 4 must peruse this site and have decided to help us out, that's brilliant. :pierre: I shall now go and add it to the announcement/thread, thanks!

Yeah, just had a quick look then online - http://www.tvguide.co.uk (pretty sad I know but it comes in handy since you type in the programme/film and it says whether it's on in the near future)

    No problem
