The grading of group projects just don't make sense. Why should my grade depend on the ability and effort level of other people?
And this is precisely why I have refused to do any group work at university. It's a completely unfair system and I completely agree with you on this point. It isn't fair and I think that it's time that universities started looking at fairer ways of assessing group projects.

Because that's how it usually works in the workplace.

Some people submitted reports for me to compile and hand in that were short of the required standard. I have had to edit and add things to them (because the whole report mark is given to us all) so that I get a better mark, all at my own effort. They can't see that he's not done this, he'll get the same (or a very similar) mark to me despite me carrying out most of the work.

How can you refuse to do group work? Don't you erm, kinda have to?

This isn't the workplace though. I need a grade in it to contribute to my future, which is much more qualitative than work at a workplace. Besides, in the workplace it can be easily recognised who in the group is doing better, and if there are any passengers they can more easily be given a punt up the backside or punted altogether, rather than dragging the whole group down.

wow :facepalm2: why can't Nick Griffin just crawl back into his underground sewer and fester away there? it's a travesty that he is still an MEP for this country.

Yes but university is to prepare you for the workplace, and whilst in theory in the workplace those who aren't pulling their weight will be removed in reality there is a lot of poor management out there where such a thing doesn't happen.

Again this is precisely why I don't do group work because you've been left to do all the work in order to ensure that you get the grade. The unfair part is that they then get a good grade on the back of your effort.

Very simply I didn't any module which had any element of group assessment in it so barring working in pairs during a lesson, I never have any shared work to do. It's also because my specialisms are generally rarely studied by students so even if I had to joint work, they couldn't pair me up with anyone anyway (NB I do generally find my specialisms interesting and didn't become interested in them solely to be difficult. )

Nice to know that just as Gordon Brown did in RL, you are in touch with the saddos of this country and what they consider as entertainment. It was only thanks to the kindness of another TSR thread that I discovered who the Lucy you were referring to was.

I watch it, though as a hater of reality TV and celebrity "culture", I should dislike it so it's a bit of a guilty pleasure, but it's a good bit of fun I guess. I don't know how Lucy has made it this far, I think she's probably the worst of the 12, she just seems so grumpy and hostile and I think I can probably count the number of times I've seen her smile on my left hand. Either David or Kian should win, both seem like nice blokes.

I have absolutely no idea what you are discussing and if it's "reality" tv I'm pretty happy about that

They had a drastic change in voice actors though didn't they? Thats what ruined it for me.

Mark Hammil did some voices in that as well I believe.
