So cool, congratulations! I think Cambridge sent out quite a few offers today! What was the offer? x
Yeah, they posted all the decisions yesterday so they're all trickling out now! Its conditional on an A*, I'm a gap year applicant so I'm resitting some modules this year

I agree, waiting over Christmas has been awful! However, most admissions offices are open again.. so here starts the relentless checking of e-mails!

I had originally started writing my personal statement in October, and I spent a lot of time looking through Uni websites trying to decide where to pick! I had my application finished at the beginning of December, but I had to wait for my college reference to be done. It took a while because everyone else was putting in their applications at the same time! Where have you applied for? I know there's not many places that offer Anthropology, so it's likely most of us on this thread have at least one choice that's the same!

Yeah? Well I'm applying as an individual and not through an institution, so my problem was getting the actual reference! I finally got a great one and manage to get my application in for early December! I have applied for Manchester, Durham, Bournemouth, Aberdeen and Edinburgh! It's a joint course though, Archaeology and Anthropology and you!? Yes I think you are right, we all seem to have one or two matching choices!!

Ha, I think we're one of the few who haven't applied for any of the same Uni's! I chose UCL, Kent, Oxford Brookes, East London and Exeter. I'm not doing a joint honors though. All the courses I chose offer Biological as well as Social Anthropology, as I wanted a broader option. I'm glad you found a good reference, if I wasn't at college I wouldn't have been able to find one at all!

I know, I got very lucky! I have been doing some weeks of digging as a volunteer, and the person who is running the project wrote it for me! Uh I have heard such good things about UCL! I don't think they are sending out those dreaded forms this year, so that is a good thing have you had confirmation of receipt of your application from all of them?

The next morning after my application was sent off I had e-mails from 4 of my choices, 2 asking me to log in on their websites to track my progress and the other 2 were just to acknowledge i'd applied and my application would be looked at soon. I still haven't heard anything from East London, but on track all my choices say they are considering my application, so i'm guessing that they don't e-mail people.

Exeter also sent me a postcard! It arrived just before Christmas too!

UCL haven't sent me a questionnaire or form to fill in.. yet! <--- Probably cursed myself there.

    What's your top choice?

Yeah! Well I got e-mails from Edinburgh and Manchester the following day, and I got a Christmas card from Bournemouth! Aberdeen confirmed with a letter and Durham... I haven't heard of them at all, but same as you, they are all listed as considering on UCAS track! I don't think I have a top choice to be honest with you, I applied for the universities that seemed most appealing to me so I will be happy with any of them! And you?

I liked all of them, but for different reasons. I can see myself going to all of them, though. I have a favourite (Oxford Brookes - the city is amazing, and they have good lecturers), but I liked the modules at UCL/Kent/Exeter the most, even though they have some really hard ones. (Statistics, noooo) London is expensive to live in though

I hear Durham don't send e-mails out, and they take a while to make decisions. I'm just hoping none of my choices leave their decision until May! (the cut off for decisions)

I know exactly what you mean, waiting till May would be a real nightmare! At least if you get an answer quick, even if it's a rejection, your mind is at ease and you can plan ahead! I don't know, I just hate waiting!
Yes, I am the same! I like them all for different reasons, but generally they were all quick at getting back to me with my enquiries before i sent off my application! I see it as a good sign if they are well organised and care for their applicants. I know, I think Durham will definitely take their time, as well as the Scottish ones! I hear that
Exeter and Manchester on the other hand are really quick
I don't think I could live in London, the constant buzz would drive me mad! Haha. But everyone is different and I grew up in a very small town, that is the reason I didn't apply for any London uni's!

I only e-mailed a couple of the Uni's with questions before I applied, one was very quick. I got a reply the next day, and the other took 3 days. They were just basic 'Please can you clarify on your grades' questions. My main questions I can't really ask until when/if I get offers, as my main questions are about accommodation because I want to live in halls with mature students like me. I don't think I could live the lifestyle of the other freshers, i'm in my 20's and i've done it all! Moved away from home, going out all hours of the night etc! Plus, hangovers get worse the older you get. (feeling very old right now!)

I applied for Uni's in the city, as I live in the middle of nowhere at the moment and I miss the hustle and the bustle of a town/city. I hear Exeter and Kent make quick decisions, so here's hoping we both get at least one offer soon!

Yeah the right accommodation is so important! I am 25 and I feel like I am ready to leave out most of the party scene and focus on my studies now, so I am not so much applying to uni for the social side of things. It would be cool to perhaps share a house with other mature students, or like you mentioned, halls for us elderly people lol plus I'm a light sleeper, anything wakes me up! I know what you mean, I live in a big city ATM, and I really miss the small town life! - grass is always greener as they say! Yes I know, I want to wake up in the morning to at least an e-mail, letter or an offer! I have decided.. I think I just jinxed myself there!

I still want to go out, but i'd rather go to the pub than a club. I like to chatter at a table with friends, rather than be in a club where you can't hear anyone. I also can't dance to save my life! <--- Freshers scares me for this reason!

Lots of Uni's allocate halls to mature students, it's best to e-mail them once an offer (hopefully) has been made as to what options you have. Some may put you in with postgrads/international students. I'm a little bit nervous about the prospect of possibly having to share halls with people who have just finished school, i'll be the little old Grandma of halls!

I'm glad I found the thread too, it's been interesting to meet other people who want to study the same subject as me. It's also great that I don't have to explain myself constantly as to what Anthropology is!

    I don't like clubbing much, it's too loud and I can't socialise!

I have college tomorrow, and i'm going out for dinner and a movie with a friend in the evening so I will have a good distraction to keep me away from my e-mails!

Durham do send e-mails acknowledging your application when it is received. If you haven't had this, you should contact them and they will send another copy for you.

I woke up this morning to an e-mail from Uni of Manchester! They needed my graduation certificate, to make sure that my grades on the UCAS application were correct.
Hopefully I should hear something soon now

To me, that definitely sounds like they will make you an offer as soon as they see your certificates! That's good news for sure!
