How much student loan are you getting?

How come you are paying for it?

Got one degree as it is, I won't get anything. So I have to self fund everything UCL, want £4.5k by October the rest by January. If you look at it in the bigger picture its not as bad as people say it is, quite easily pay it off monthly by logging in. A job in the city pays for itself.

Definitely A level (or above at university level but i'd need a Phd and/or masters for that), at least the majority of students who go onto further education will probably want to be there. I don't think I could teach high school kids because they would be too immature and I would get really annoyed trying to teach trouble kids. That said I wouldn't mind do high school for work experience but not in a permanent capacity.
Primary teaching isn't even in my consideration.

What about you, what will you be studying and do you have a career in mind?

I'm going to be studying Computer Science at uni but I'm still unsure about what I want to do. I've had thoughts about becoming a teacher, joining the RAF, etc.. but I don't know yet. Ideally if I could get a job abroad then that'd be perfect.

Not really sure, I am getting catered accommodation so less money will be spent on food. I'd say around £40-£50 a week or less.

That's some expensive Accommodation. Where are you planning to study?
Hi David,

Thanks. No bursaries or scholarships for accommodation or living expenses. They do a scholarship for tuition fees on pre-paid cards that can only be used for tuition fees. I will look at student bank accounts with high overdrafts.

Thank you!

What about Bursaries and Scholarships from your university? If not then you'll have to find a student bank account with the highest overdraft and use that. For paying the rest of the accommodation and living expenses.

It's in London and that was the cheapest I could find. I'm in zone 4 so will be spending pretty much all of my money on travel. Any closer and your guaranteed to be paying well over £200 a week though.

Well I've seen the old threads about how much people are getting and was wondering how much people are going to be getting for 2014.

In the past I've seen that there are people who are only getting like £30 a week which doesn't seem very much to live on for the entire week. Also mention how much your accommodation is going to cost because it'll be interesting to know

Use this format to keep it easy

Queen Mary.
Anyone else got 50/52 week contract to get away from parents for as long as possible?

Not if you live in London...

Yeah but Oxford is the second most expensive city in the UK and the accommodation is significantly cheaper than London. I thought spending up to £600 a month on rent was insane but nearly 50% more? Mental. I know its London and everything but damn how can people afford/justify that?

Why would you want to distance yourself from your parents for such a prolonged period? Do you hate them? Lol
