toronto353 This MoNC is a de facto choice of staying a left-wing coalition with Labour, or leaving the coalition to get closer with the Conservatives. You declared in this thread that most of the Liberals were right-wing, from that it would be logical to think you will vote in favour of this to boost your own opinions, however, I doubt that will be the case; you have put yourself in a tough position with that statement.

There's no need for that - we're trying to welcome new members, not attack them and this thread isn't about attacking individuals, it's for discussing the Government's record.
In that case I shall withdraw my remark

On the last point, we withdrew the motion. I'll say more on it later. Labour never backed it anyway
I was going to say that I could have sworn that was a liberal motion rather than a government one.

    Indeed.

Also, ignore any negativity. Though I may not be a one-nation Tory, you're a doing a good (and active) job at the moment as an Independent, and I fully expect you to pick up a seat at the election

Though I make no bones about the fact that I am firmly right wing (and there are those in Government who can attest that I certainly do not hide my views if I oppose something which I see as against my principles), I won't be voting for this MONC at all. Despite our disagreements, I enjoy working with Labour and even if I were to put my own views first, that would be wrong as it would be defying the will of the electorate and since it would be selfish, putting myself ahead of my party. If this MONC were being called for the right reasons, I would consider carefully my vote, but it has been called as nothing more than a shameless attempt to gain 'power' and the Right are hardly united behind it in any case, with Rakas opposing it. Finally, Rakas seems to think that the Conservatives think lowly of the Liberals and indeed I am in no doubt that they perceive me in much the same way, so there is no option of getting closer with the Conservatives. With all things considered, I will be opposing this MONC.

We can all submit bills, but there's no point submitting bills that have no substance and are joke bills. Would you rather have two really good bills that get passed or 10 bills that are not so good and all fail to get passed. Its about quality not quantity. Talking about joke bills, there has been a number of them recently, supported by-surprise,surprise-some conservative MPs.

I only proposed the party to see if there was the members for it, on the off chance. My General Election manifesto will be much better though, but will of course have the pictures of Disraeli and Supermac on it though. Thought of having 20 pictures of Supermac but UKIP beat me to the punch with that one a bit

Hahaha They certainly did. I was debating Nigel and Adam about this yesterday, as you're technically only allowed two images. They're argument was that as a file, it was one image

Yet most of us seem to be going to extremes in order to a) be in the government, and b) get their bills passed, so please, don't act like we're the oddball because it isn't true. If you practiced what you preach, you would resign because compared to everything I've seen here apart from the unfortunate abomination right before, you are severely underperforming.

Okay, let's say your activity isn't an issue and we don't care about who can produce how many bills. Your government is incompetent! You have a cabinet position for each MP, yet only a couple of them have produced something and even that little was off. Made-up figures, misunderstanding of economy, clumsy research, random bad ideas (e.g. your latest nuclear deterrent) with their expected effects pulled out of thin air… I'm only repeating myself. If you seriously think you're not being a hypocrite here, we have nothing to talk about. It's one thing to support your party and another to refuse to admit obvious defects.
The only ones going to an extreme to be in the government, and, given that Labour, the Socialists and (I believe) the Liberals do not whip on normal legislation, get their bills passed, are the right.

Er, firstly, we don't have a Cabinet position for each MP, not sure where you got that from. Secondly, yes, I fully accept that some of the research and some of the numbers are dodgy. Newsflash: we're students, not professional lawmakers. None of us - none of any of us in the House - know jackshit about most of what we're debating beyond what we can find on the internet after, more often than not, a long day. The research and the figures are going to be dodgy some of the time unless you're lucky enough to have a person that actually has real-world experience of the issue at hand. It would be, and has been, exactly the same with other governments. Thirdly, you talk about bad research and yet you as an individual have failed to research what you're saying in this very debate, as the nuclear planes, which I'm guessing you're referring to by 'your latest nuclear deterrent', were a Liberal motion, not a Government one.

You can put as many pictures as you like, as long as it's in one or two images it seems

Anyway, I wish you luck. I'm sure we'll find some common ground along the way. If you have any policy ideas you think my party might be interested in, send me a quick message and we could co-author something. Always good to get some experience under your belt

    We're secularists

Edit: Mostly anyway. I'm not sure if one or two would be in favour

I'll disagree. The bills themselves are fine. I believe costings have been a bit of an issue for us, but a Government doesn't deserve to be kicked out because they're costings aren't spot on.

    Alright.

Also, if anyone from any other party sees anything in the One Nation manifesto that they like, then feel free to let me know and we'll get to work on it.
