Hi, I'm an international student starting A-levels this September. I wanted to know top universities (Imperial for example) would accept further maths as a separate subject for computing course?
My plan is to take maths, further maths and physics and computing(only up to AS level because my college doesn't offer it at A2), but someone told me that top universities don't accept further maths as an additional subject and I need one more subject for A2(where my only option is economics) shall take economics or I can just do three A2 subject?
The top British universities very much encourage you to take Further Maths if you're interested in CompSci. You do sometimes see medical programmes who don't see FM and M as separate, but generally speaking you're fine for CS.

For example, here at Oxford our standard offer is A*AA with at least an A in Maths. THe A* has to be in either Maths, Further Maths, Physics or Computing. (You'll always see that written in that order on official documents: the order is significant.) For us Maths is essential and FMaths highly recommended as the best preparation for one of our courses. We very much see it is as two separate A Levels.

That sounds like an excellent set of A Level subjects. Good luck with them.

    Hope that helps.

yes however what I didn't tell you is that 2A*s are my PE BTEC .. and 1A* is my AiDA course and 2 Bs are OCR nationals IT .. so I'm not entirely sure if these count to med schools

either way the core subjects is where its at and I got all A*s and As in those :woo::cool:

Err... I'm a bit worried about my results. According to my results sheet, my Physics UMS mark is 363, which is just an A* overall. However, by my calculations, I should have been two marks under the A* boundary. Now I'm not saying I don't want an A*, certainly not, but I'm worried they might have given me the wrong mark and at a later date they might say, "Sorry, you actually only got an A."

    For Physics (AQA), I've had:

    P1: 85
    P2: 83
    P3: 100
    P4/ISA: 90

By my calculations, that's 358, not 363 like they've awarded me. Is it possible that previous grades can go up, by any chance? I'm just wondering if that's the case because my school have only printed the results for exams and coursework I did from March onwards (i.e., excluding P1 and P2).

Can anyone help me out here? I don't really want to lose out on an A*, but if I've got the wrong mark, I'd rather find out about it now than in a few months when I can collect my certificates (although I'll probably care more about my A-Levels then).

No, nor did I get any remarked. I considered doing so for B1 but that's it.

Then it is likely they could take the grade of you :/ .... I would advise to speak to your exams officer at your school if you can still call them, if not as soon as you can go back into school!
