I was very fortunate to be offered 2 positions this year, I have declined Bioinformatics (Genomics) so hopefully some lucky person will be hearing soon about that if you were reserve. I hope this helps someone

Yeah it was in Newcastle, I have accepted Newcastle for Genomics and declined Bioinformatics (Genomics) which was the same lab. I've applied for this programme a lot of times and I would have been happy with a place on the moon if that's all they'd offered me! I was very lucky to have my top choice offered to me twice. I hope that someone on the reserve list has been made as happy as me now Best of luck to all x

That's amazing, was my first time applying so happy I was given an offer. I'm sure the person who will get this will be extremely happy as well.

    Good Luck to you

For our trainees, the only reason to go to another site is if they have expertise or equipment we don't have at our hospital. Usually only for a day or two and usually not very far.
The guy did say it was only for a couple of weeks but it is still something to consider if one were to commute by train from afar!

Those of us who have offers still have to pass the pre-employment checks before we get an offer of employment. Does anyone know what these entail? Is it a given that we will pass these, or can employers reject applicants they find unsuitable, and if so, what sort of criteria do they use?

I think collecting the references that you provided and checking that they're satisfactory and a DBS check? Checking that you actually worked were you said you've worked in your application, and that you achieved the grades you said you achieved at university.

    Hi,

Yes I am waiting for cardiology. Have you got offers for respiratory too?
No, I'm waiting for Vascular and Cardiac, although I wanted to apply for respiratory, but thought I had a better chance with vascular. Just killing time, wondering if there are people with offers from other specialisms who might accept their other offer immediately or whether they would prefer cardiology so waiting for that! I know a lot of people apply for cardiology and resp / sleep!

It really doesn't change anything for me, just curious!
