It's been Greater London since 1965 mate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_London

I'm getting old then

(Original post by Narutopolaris)
close but no cigar- not hastings (heaven forbid!) but Royal Tunbridge Wells (and yes, I put the "Royal" in for sheer vanity)....

Ah nice, quite close guess by me then

I didn't know what to say, so since I had my economics textbook open I read out a definition. I think I don't have much of an accent, but then again most people don't think they do. Where would you say I was from

Will be posting here tomorrow when everyone is not asleep in my house
My accent is a hybrid... well to me it seems like a hybrid of 2 or 3 accents.

:eek4: My throat is still not feeling 100%, hopefully I'll add another recording soon!

I'm actually curious if people think that I have a Londoner accent or not, because I've lived here all my life

EDIT: The last part of the recording where I say bye, arghhh I sound like a girl man grrrrr
Sound very London to me, I'd guess north or east?

I thought you'd have more of a northern accent! I am surprised.

And I will unfortunately not be taking part in this as my microphone is built-in and, according to my friends, it sounds like I am underwater when I speak. I suppose I could just say I'm from Atlantis.
I've lived in the south for the last 15 years of my life.

Sound a tad posh but you're intentionally enunciating I'm sure. Bit of scouse in there by my estimate

Haha didn't know what to say so I thought go for a relevant sentence :P

And I like your accent it reminds me of what all my American friends thought "British" accents were.

I hate my voice whenever I hear it! Thought I might as well give this a go though

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm sure some of you have heard of the 'Regional Dialect Meme' or 'Accent Tag'. You basically just have to read a list of words and see how everybody says them differently. Thought it could be interesting to give that a go too

The words are:
Aunt
Route
Wash
Oil
Theatre
Iron
Salmon
Caramel
Fire
Water
Sure
Data
Ruin
Crayon
Toilet
New Orleans
Pecan
Both
Again
Probably
Spitting image
Alabama
Lawyer
Coupon
Mayonnaise
Syrup
Pyjamas
Caught

I swear everyone's accent sounds so different when recorded. I guess it's because of the fact that the sound goes through your head a bit as well or something. I don't like my accent.

Actually the enunciation is not on purpose, I actually speak like that normally. Whenever I hear my voice i cringe inside. Having said that I did try not to trip over the word aggregate as I usually do. And no I'm not from Liverpool. I live in Bolton and was born in north Manchester

Oh wow, nice. Well done for not having a Bolton accent! I really like your accent, very attractive.
