Urgh if 20/200 is about -3 to -4 then mine is probably about 20/400:eek:
Haha it seems to me that calculating prescriptions is very subjective, sometimes I'm not even sure which of the two lenses they show me is better or whether the circles in the green or the red background look clearer
Just go get a test rather than speculating.

If you aren't sure or they both look the same then say so - that is almost certainly more useful than guessing.

I have had an eyetest recently and one of my eyes seems to have improved slightly while the other seems to have got slightly worse. I thought this was a bit strange but apparently its normal

-7, -8. But it's calmed down, i used to fluctuate between -9 and -10 for my entire childhood. It started stabilising when I hit like 15.

    Yeah, it's really settled down.

    ____

question: when did you all first go to the opticians?

I went when i was 5, someone threw a rock at me and I didn't see it and that with my clumsiness and the fact I was struggling with reading, my parents figured it out and off I went!

Mine's not too bad, but it's getting worse. Luckily, that seems to be gradual.

At the age of 5-6 right before year 1, got everything excellent, same at year 4. Then went again in year 7 when I had trouble seeing from the back.

I have pretty bad eyesight. I've been wearing them for about 2 years now, and surprisingly my eye sight has deteriorated rapidly rather than improving. What used to be -0.5 is now -3.25 in one eye and -2 in another. Gosh, I hate wearing glasses because they just feel like this big burden since I practically can't read anything unless I'm wearing them. They don't suit me that well either.

Yeah, my eyesight was pushing -10 on both eyes when I went in though so my eyesight was horrendous!

How old are you? Your eyesight won't necessarily get as bad as your mums. My mum's prescription is only about -2.5 or something so mine is a lot worse

    I am worried
My optician has referred me to a specialist clinic because I have a different shaped eye. Basically my eye balls kinda stick out of my eye socket!
I am short sighted as well and my eye sight is getting worse
    Can you go blind eventually

It doesn't work like that at all. I'm -1.25 and -1.75. On a good day, I'm 6/12 and 6/24. Although, I can be anywhere between 6/10 and 6/18 and 6/18 and 6/36. Admittedly, there's no really accurate way of testing my eyesight. I had a test one week where I was 6/6, went back the following week and was 6/18.

If you were 20/400, you'd be on the blind register.

Now I feel bad for complaining about my -1.75, -2.25 eyes. My eyes are actually worse than my Dad's. Though I have realised my eyes have gotten slightly worse.

Wow my eyes sight must be terrible then

Had my first optical visit in four years and my last prescription was -3.35 and -.3.5.....she said my eye sight has worsened and I am guessing she has increased my prescription. I am very scared

There isn't a link between the two. Like I've said, with me, there's no accurate way of testing either. I have very complex eye conditions and whilst I'm not that short sighted, I don't have ahuge amount of vision. No matter how much corection I'm given, (I also have prisms) I generally can't see more than 4-5 lines of the eye chart.
