    What are you hoping for?
    6.5A*s 2As 1B and 1Distinction*
    What are you expecting?
    4.5A*s 3As 2Bs and 1Distinction*
Will you be satisfied with your expectation?
Not really, I want 5A*s but other than that I guess so
    How will you open them?
Open it and focus on each grade 1 at a time so it's not overwhelming.
How will you celebrate / react?
I kept a pretty straight face when I got 2 A*s last year (I am happy on the inside) so probably like that.
Will you meet your Sixth Form/College offer?
Yes you only need 5 A*-C

I would just like to say that Medicine has always been in the back of my mind but I clearly won't be successful in that career when there are others on here who plan on getting much better grades than me and still feel unsuitable for medicine.

Also, how is everyone doing so many GCSEs? I am doing the maximum that my school allow and that is 10.5 and lets be honest, the 0.5 doesn't count, one of them is only a 'certificate' (further maths) and one is graded like BTEC but isn't one (ICT) so technically I will only have 8 actual GCSEs and there are people here doing 13+

Feeling very inferior right now haha
    Sup Dude/Dudess
are you joking? 6A* alone is perfect for competing in medicine with people on TSR. My sister currently in her second year in Cambridge got in for medicine with just 3A*s and the rest As, doing only 10 subjects at GCSE but 3A* and an A in A-levels. I Think the reason people on TSR intend or expect to do so well is due to the fact most of them are over achievers aspiring for one of the leading universities. Dont ever feel put off doing medicine!!

    What are you hoping for?
    8 A*s and 5 As.
    What are you expecting?
    7 A*s, 4 As, 1 B and 1 F.
Will you be satisfied with your expectation?
Yes, should be enough to get me into a Russell Group University, although they commonly disregard GCSEs anyway!
    How will you open them?
Either slowly tear the seal of the envelope or literally rip the envelope, not too sure.
How will you celebrate / react?
Most likely feel pretty mutual, most likely the same, I offer minimum emotion and reaction haha. Although if I exceed my expectations I'll be over the moon. Most likely go for a meal later that day.
Will you meet your Sixth Form/College offer?
Sixth Form requirements are pretty low, therefore easy to obtain the required grades. Even in grammar schools, well, the ones I've applied too. But they seem roughly the same anyway.

Do you think that applies to an institution such as Durham?

    What are you hoping for?

I sat the majority if my GCSE's a year early, so I only had to do five this year! Tbh I'm hoping for 5 A*'s

    What are you expecting?
I'm expecting at least 2 A*'s 2A's and maybe a B/C in English lit - that exam was awful 😞

Will you be satisfied with your expectation?
Il be gutted over English lit, but happy with the rest.

    How will you open them?
My mums going to come with me to school to collect my results but she'll wait in the car, so I'll probably get my results and then open them with her.

How will you celebrate / react?
Meet up with friends and go out somewhere fun, to celebrate if we do well and as a cheer-me-up if we don't :P

I haven't looked into Durham so not 100% accurate, however, many institutions require a minimum of a B in English Language at GCSE level and nothing else, just A Levels. Most likely AAAB.

I see. But if you were to get an A*AA instead of the required AAA, could that lower the importance of GCSES? Assumin' it was relevant. For instance a course requires B in physics at GCSE but at A level you got A* or A.

    3A*s 4A's 6B's
Will you be satisfied with your expectation?
Yeh nothing wrong with a couple of B's
    How will you open them?
Most likely stare at the letter for about 15 minutes with my geography teacher staring and cheering me on as she believes I will get an A* in geography, i'll make her proud
    How will you celebrate/react?
If I do better than expected i'll take my 3 best friends out for a meal no charge and discuss future options. If I don't fair as well i'll just get on with life as normal and most likely get taken out by my friends because they'll be bragging about getting like 10 A*s.
Will you meet your college offer?
    Yes most definitely

That would definitely decrease the importance of GCSE, providing the subject is relevant to the course! But as far as I'm aware, institutions only have requirements for A Level, for relevant subjects, for example, A*/A in Physics at A Level.

I'm hoping for 8A*s 3As and then B or C for my other two GCSEs, I think on the most part I'll achieve these grades, and I'm reasonably confident I will get all grades over B. I'm already pretty much guaranteed a place at sixth form because the acceptance grades are lower for me as I already attend the school.

Anyway, I'm definitely not opening them with my friends and will probably be very very nervous but also I'm quite curious and excited for my results
    Good luck everyone

    What are you hoping for?
Predicted and hoping for all A*s (11.5)
    What are you expecting?
    9.5 A*s and 2 As
Will you be satisfied with your expectation?
I guess, but if I don't get all A*s, I will be disappointed anyway. If I get a B, I will break down (I have never got a B in anything in my secondary school career so to get one on results day will shock me).
    How will you open them?
Once I have them in my hand I'll just think for a little while and then try to open them calmly and read through it slowly to prevent me mis-reading them (as I expect there will be a lot of grades dotted around for the individual units)
    How will you celebrate/react?
I'll go to my friends (although only one is actually in the country for results day) and maybe go to a party that night - someone is bound to have one.
Will you meet your Sixth Form offer?
I am going to carry on at my grammar school sixth form and yes, very easily.

    What are you hoping for?

    2 A*'s 5 A's 1 B

    What are you expecting?

    1 A* 5 A's 2 B's

Will you be satisfied with your expectation?

Probably not, I'm the sort of person that is never happy with what they get, which everyone finds really annoying. But I don't think there's anything wrong with having high expectations of yourself.

    How will you open them?

I will probably go somewhere where I am on my own. My mum will probably come down to school with me but I'll let her wait in the car then I can open them on my own and get used to what I have seen (good or bad) then tell people when I am ready.

How will you celebrate / react?

I'll probably cry no matter what I get whether it.s a sad cry or happy cry because again I'm just one of those annoying people, haha. Then me and my family will probably go out for a meal that night. Then me and my boyfriend will do something together to celebrate.

Will you meet your Sixth Form/College offer?

Something will have seriously gone wrong if I don't get 5 C's or above.

    How will you open them?
    Quickly, and on my own

How will you celebrate / react?
I'll probably stare at the sheet for a long time, then share with friends
After that I think we're having a picnic on the green

Will you meet your Sixth Form/College offer?
Yes, but if I get too many As and Bs I might not be able to convince them to let me take double maths

I tend to do well in every subject except Maths... I'm targeted a C and I got C's in every single mock I've done all year, but I bet I get a D in the real exam and have to rest it next year with my A Levels... I'll be gutted if I don't get a C!
