None of them appear as locked to me so I can't tell which ones are and which aren't. If it's possible for anyone to edit this one them I'm surprised it's this out of date.

Yeah but that's fixed now - and that bug hasn't been around as long as the wiki has been out-of-date.

:dontknow: it's just one general election. That page had been taken on as fez's pet project anyway... So maybe that's why?

Saracen's Fez Mr Speaker, is it allowable for a member to leave a seat belonging to one party and then take another seat belonging to another party before four weeks has passed?

Mr Speaker, would you allow two MPs from different parties to seamlessly swap parties but stay in the same seat so that they keep their seats (thus not having to wait the 4 weeks stipulated in this amendment).

The seat numbers belong to the parties, so that would be a loophole too many, but if you have a spare person then there is nothing wrong with them swapping from one seat number to no seat number (i.e. losing their seat to someone else for a day) and then swapping to the other seat number.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, that wouldn't necessarily work

The GD states that "MPs are not allowed to switch from one seat number to another seat number".

It is however perfectly allowable for them to give up their seat number (and with it obviously the seat) to someone else, and for that someone else to give the seat the following day to a different person, provided they are not an MP.

If both parties did this, then the switch could be made over two days within the rules.

So, just to clarify, there would be no objection to me giving up my socialist seat then becoming a Labour MP the next day?

Provided you found someone to pass the Socialist seat on to on the first day (i.e. before the defector could take it up) then that would be fine.

Okay, that's fine. Would there actually have to be any passage of time, or could it simply be done as 'appoint X person to my former seat'... 30 seconds later 'appoint defector'?

I'm only really comfortable with one change in each seat per day. We can't be getting ridiculous.

So I assume you're going one way and Cranbrook the other? xD

    That is the plan.

Also, hypothetically (for the avoidance of doubt two non-MPs have posted in the socialist forum in the last 24 hours), does a person need to consent to be appointed as an MP? The flamboyant person in me kinda wants to appoint Faland as an MP for a day.

Faland is alive?! (In TSR terms of course...) he just dropped of the face of the earth.

    No, hence the question.

They have to apply to the usergroup (even if you tell them to hold off voting) so read into that what you will...

Really I was just going to tell them (privately) to not bother joining the user group. Otherwise it's just a bit of effort for exactly the same result. Can't we just say they dropped from their seats and then were appointed to fill the new seats.
