That's controversial. I'm sure there are many that would say that Britain was less than benevolent in its style of imperial rule.
I said that on purpose. However, there is a truth that it was much less of a violent and abusive empire than the 1910-1945 Japanese Empire.
No, it wasn't a shining white holy empire, but it had positive as well as negative impacts upon history, which politically correct, watered-down historians tend to denounce.

I'd say America or Israel right now. Japan is a wonderful country respsonsible for so many great things it's hard not to hate it. So they were evil in the Second World War. Spain weren't exactly nice to the Americas in the past were they?

Plus Japan has quite a few cute models.

HK lost around half its pre-war population due to the Japanese but I still love Japan, and I still greatly admire their culture/post-war development. In fact my Taiwanese relatives loved Japan as well because Taiwan had it off much better under Japanese colonial rule (more like the UK's relation with Canada than an African state).

Koreans loath Japan only during perceived revisionism of ww2 events by the Japanese much like HK. But in China there is a very unpleasant hatred brewing from within society and driven by the state. I was in HK over the 2005 textbook incident and the mainland chinese in Guangdong cities literally destroyed eveything that was Japanese. The CCP are bloody clever a******* in diverting public discontent to Japan who have already apologized and handed China much aid since the war.

Why would anybody one hate Japan? I cannot think of any reason.

The country a man hates the most, is his own

Does that make sense?

No, Israel is. Japan is mainly hated in much of the East because of its war crimes, but at least it is an island and cannot do much to exacerbate the situation.
Do you really think more people in this world hate Israel than any of the US, Japan, Pakistan or South Korea? Sounds like a very Eurocentric or Islamocentric way of looking at things...

Yes, I am sure of it. There is still alot of anti-semitism, and anti-semitics concentrate their hatred towards the only Jewish nation. The US is not hated as much as that nation. Even if people in many places dislike the USA, there are scores of others who support the USA. Israel, on the other hand, can be a considerably more dividing and hate-ridden issue.

N/S Korea, Pakistan, and Japan are hated mostly by one other nation. India and Pakistan hate each other, North and South Korea hate each other, RoC hates Mainland China, China and Korea and several other Oriental nations hate Japan, but there is a massive chance for reconcilement in the latter, and a lot of love for Japan in the west.

Sure, I acknowledged this in one of my earlier posts. Like Japan, the US is probably simultaneously one of the most hated and most loved countries. However the question at hand is which country is most hated, as in how many people on earth hate it. I'd think Japan or the US would certainly win.

I'll give you a chance to respond to my other post, but South Korea is hated by more than just Japan. Quite amazingly, recent polling showed Mainland Chinese listed South Korea as their most hated country, slightly beating Japan. Nany Japanese also hate South Korea of course.

As for Pakistan. Many of India's 1+ billion population and Bangladesh and America's also large populations certainly hate the Pakistani state.

And America? Well, I'm sure pretty much all the citizens in the Arab/Muslim states that hate Israel also hate the US. As do many in Europe, Russia, East Asia and Latin America of course.

About one billion people could hate Japan at once, maybe more.

For the USA, that would be more because of its superpower status and global reach.

For Israel, you could count a significant amount of people all around the world. We can't tell how much exactly, but a massive proportion of the world's population is anti-semitic. At least one billion, I'd think.

I don't think you can really call anti-Israeli people antisemitic. Sure, a large number may be, but certainly not all.

Still, as I pointed out in a previous post, hatred of Israel is largely limited to the Muslim world, leftist Europeans and pockets of diaspora Arab communities in the Americas. Personally I'd have thought that would pale in comparison to the number of people hating the US.

Well generally Japan is hated for its militarist and imperialistic history, territorial claims, continuing diplomatic incidents, perceived oppression of ethnic minorities and whaling practices.

Dunno, I personally hate the japanese government in their ongoing attempts to cover ALL its attrocities, including the First Sino Japanese war - the russian japanese war and of course World war 2(Second Sino Japanese war).
Oh and its refusal to pay reparations to China by using legal means and manipulating political situations.

What aid? 30 billion in Aid is pathetic. They owe at least 8 Trillion in todays exchange rate! Thats just property and indirect economic damage...
