Why not just collect it and open it when you get home?
Alternatively, you could check UCAS before you go to school to see if you've met your offer and only open the results at school if you have.
My hands will be itching to open it right there and then. If I wait till 8 to check UCAS, by the time I get to school, most of my friends will be gone. My school is 2 1/2 hrs away by public bus. But thanks for replying quickly

I can't even collect mine in person again this year! And our exams officer is away this week so the office were pretty unhelpful about it all!

Hopefully I can get them posted home but have a teacher ring me up and tell me....,, they let me do that last year but with email when I was abroad.

The other option was my mum grabbing them at 8.30 on her way to work.......but sgain, they were unhelpful. >.<

The first email from UCAS looks exactly the same as others you have got 'something had changed in your application'. When you log on to UCAS, if you got in it will be the first thing you see, as it says congratulations
Then later you (may) get an email from the university.
UCAS will also send a letter upon getting a place. For unsuccessful places they'll still send the email as above (they're generic). And I THINK they may send an email saying you're in clearing (if you haven't got a place). So I don't believe you will know from te first email
Actually no. The email will tell you if you are in. It should come around 8.10 if you have been accepted by either your firm or insurance. No email if a decision has not been made yet.

My cousin did the same and because she hadn't got the grades her offer specified she spent all day sulking only to check track that evening and find out her firm had actually accepted her. So checking track would be the best thing to do first imo.

I guess I'm just lucky in living fairly close to school. I'd probably do the same if I lived so far away.

I'd advise you not to go through clearing. You're paying 9 grand for a course you didn't intend to go on in the first place. Take a gap year, retake and reapply.
You go into clearing if you do not meet the offer from your Firm and insurance. You then find a university that will accept you at the grades you have for the same course. You do not have to do a different course.

I don't see why that would be risky. My school opens before track anyway.

I'm off work on results day, thank god. Me and my friends are planning to go for a milkshake after we've got our results to either celebrate or cry over :P

I'm hoping it's to celebrate. Starting to get seriously squirmy butterflies when I think about it now

Can anyone give me any advise. OK so I am in year 12 getting my AS's this Thursday as normal. Firstly, I do think my exams went well. But if I do not get the grades I want and therefore I retake the year does this make a difference when applying to UNI's. My second question, because I took Chemistry but ended up dropping it before I took the AS exams as I wasn't doing very well in it and I thought it would ruin my other exams does this look bad when applying to UNI as most people do at least 4 AS's. I am doing geography, history and psychology and want an ABB.

The UCAS website says any updates to applications will be made from 8:00 on the 15th August - does that mean we won't know at midnight if we're in or not?

I am too scared to go to school to collect my envelope. I would hate to find out in public that I have failed, and face the gloaters. But Thursday is also a chance to say 'see you later' to teachers and tutors and friends. Dilemma...
I agree I am opening mines in the car. I do 3 As levels, of those 3 I can check 2 online which means that I have to goto school to get one of them. It's kind of pointless and a waste of my time. I will never understand why the schools don't send them out to our houses.
