tell her you're thinking of her maybe, and that you're here if she needs you?

I wouldn't make it lengthy, I've been to my grandparents funeral and I doubt she'll be wanting to talk about it a great deal.

Maybe something just short like "Thinking of you" or "I'm here if you need to talk" ? Depends how close you were to her and her family I guess.

Edit; Just realised I repeated exactly what katie said. FML.

"My thoughts are with you and your family. Stay strong, with love, [name]."

"Good luck today, thinking of you and your family. Always here if you need me xx"

Reply 5

Good luck, hope it goes well, stay strong Im thinking of you
that kind of thing, it'll be alright

Reply 6

I'd just say something like 'Thinking of you today, stay strong, I'm here if you need me' - that sort of thing.

Reply 7

Depends, do you like this person? If not 'lolololol owned' goes down well.

Other than that just the usual stay strong stuff that you get told by a billion people when someone near you dies.

Reply 8

stay strong, my thoughts are with you, if you need me I'm here.

The stuff that everyone else has told you to say.

Here's an idea: Don't text. Just talk to her (even via phone)

It doesn't matter what you write, texting someone for a purpose like this will always seem sloppy and informal. Ring her up and speak

I completely agree. And telling someone you are there for them when, in fact, you aren't even at the funeral is also not a good idea.

Well I said to my boyfriend, that I will be there for him and that I love him so much but then again I was with him during the funeral and he was crying on me the whole time
