^ I love that book (though I didn't at first.)
The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory - really gripping!

Also The Girls' Guide to Losing Your L Plates -how to pass your driving test by Maria McCarthy. As I'm learning to drive at the moment it's my bible - helped me change from a rubbish instructor to a good one and boosts my confidence when I've had a bad lesson too.
Brown Owl's Guide To Life. Bloody good.
India - VS Naipaul

I read Kim (Kipling) and was dying for more stories about India. I couldn't find anything about British India, so had to settle for this post-colonial nonfiction book. Pretty good so far.
I've given up on Brighton Rock. I might go back to it later, I never usually give up on books, I struggle on to the bitter end! Now I'm reading The Pianist (The Extraordinary Story of One Man's Survival in Warsaw, 1939-1945) by Wladyslaw Szpilman.

I was thinking of reading that after I finish Rebecca.

Is there anything specifically about it that put you off, or was it just down to personal taste?

I dunno, it just doesn't seem to be going anywhere and all the mob stuff is confusing me slightly. Maybe I need to get further in for it to make sense!

Heh, fair enough. I'll give it a shot then, see if I have the same criticisms and let you know if I do!

Lady Chatterley's Lover - D.H. Lawrence

I've been meaning to read a book for a while now and thought I'd settle in for this. I will probably be starting on 1984 by George Orwell after this.

I'm interested in the ''dirty book'' aspect of this. So far, it's a lot better that the Barbara Cartland stuff I came across all those years ago. The fact that it's written by a man and not a woman makes it more creditworthy, I think.
reading Porno by Irving Welsh atm.... hmmmmm.
Just finished reading Watchmen for the second time. Fantastic.
just finished bleak house, that's taken me ages to read, only really got into it at the end. Half way through midget.
Clare Short - An honourable deception.....??

So far, it's a bit too party agenda-ish, and she mentions 'social justice' farrrrr too many times.
Reading "Freakonomics", liking what im reading so far!
At the moment I am reading "Daddy's Little Girl" by Mary Higgins Clark.

Bit basic for me, but enjoying the story thus far.

ooooh that was one of those books I read in one sitting, i was that captivated.

I think I'm reading "In the Time of the Butterflies."
This Book Will Save Your Life by A.M.Homes. I never ever buy books, but this one sounded right up my street, and in 2 days I've read 67 pages, I didn't even want to finish there but my friend rang. It's really funny and interesting, I recommend it to anyone who needs something uplifting. It's about a 55 year old man who has planned his life so carefully that he's lost all contact with the world, and then he suffers some random pain one day which breaks his daily routine, which then forces him to question whether he is living at all, and how he should be living. A great read so far!
I'm about to read Lunar Park by Brett Easton Ellis. I've heard good things so i'm looking forward to it.
