Soas Or Leeds??

PEOPLE PLEASE I NEED UR ADVICE!

I am in a big dilemma! I have been looking forward to coming to Leeds since I got offered a place to do my MA in International Studies Sept 05. I have accepted the offer and even applied for residence at Leodis: Although I had other offers from MDX, Westminster, Sheffield, I totally forgot that I had even applied to SOAS and KINGS. Well, today I got a letter from SOAS with an offer to study MA in International Studies and Diplomacy, which to me is a very promising course since it will help me fulfill my dream of becoming a diplomat and the fact that it is a very prestigious school is also a determining factor for me, but (yes there is a but) my heart has been set on Leeds because of all the nice things I have heard from people there! I really want a respectable Degree but at the same time I want to have fun and I know in my heart that I will have that fun in Leeds!
please help, what do I do? If you were me, what would you do?? :dontknow:

you've got a hard decision to make but there is a simple problem you hvae to solve.

would you rather spend 3 years at a place where you will get a good degree and have a good job and will also have the time of your life in the student capital of britain...i have stayed in leeds with friends and it is awesome for students.

or do you get a better degree with a more probable chance of getting a better job (maybe), and spend 3 years in a great city but one where it is likely you will have less of a social life and although you will still make many friends the city wont be catered to students as much as leeds.

i had to make the same decision for law between manc(fun times) and LSE (more work, less students and prob less play).
i chose LSE plainly because my job propspects do matter a fair bit to me.....but the main factor was is that even though manc uni is awesome for students...i live relatively close and have been into manc city centre on a night out many times

Education comes before preferance when wanting to be a diplomat. My personal opinion would be to abandon plans of going to Leeds and accept either SOAS or Kings if you get it.

100% SOAS. If you are interested in the diplomatic service then SOAS is a good choice, the Foreign and commonwealth office employs many many soas graduates.

This is a mistaken image...London is, with out sounding bias a wonderful place to live and you can have just as many "fun times" as you can elsewhere. When I did the Student Shadowing Scheme at the LSE the students seemed really laid back, cool and very friendly. I wouldn't say they're the "less play" type, they seemed quite fun
SOAS - You can smoke dope in the bar

yes, but you are also going to spend a good three or four years of your life there. You don't want to be unhappy, what's the point in that? University is supposed to be the best years of your life. Go with your gut feeling.
