Need advice [Mod Edit: Neck Pain]

I have my mechanics exam on tuesday and on wednesday i have all three modules of chemistry. Last night i slept in some awkward position and when i woke up i couldnt turn my neck properly. My shoulder and neck are in severe pain. I think ive got a trapped nerve or ive pulled some muscle. Due to my exams in a few days ive been tryin 2 revise and im doing a lot of past exam pappers. But i find it very painfull and after a few mins of writing i cant handle it. Any 1 got any idea of what i can do like some sort of miracle cure

Try something like Deepheat, or Ibruprofen of Ibulieve. They're all muscle-rubs that you massage into the area that hurts. As you slept on your neck strangely I very very much doubt you've actually pulled a muscle (you'll have just strained it), so this kind of ointment will probably help.

Can get it over the counter at anywhere like Boots or Lloyds. And it's well woth it.

Ah, I had that for my GCSEs exams.

Mine was so bad though that I couldn't look straight - my whole head was misaligned about 10-15 degrees to the right. I slept really badly also - it left me unable to move my head at all and was incrediably tense. Pain was constantly blinding.

my advice is as follows (it certainly worked for me). I'm not sure quite how bad yours is though so it may not apply.

1) Go to your doctor, and get some stronger painkillers for your exams. Hopefully you won't need them, but it may help you. I found regular painkillers didn't touch it.

2) At the same time, get a doctors note, and contact your examinations officer to let him know the situation. There is a medical name for it - torticolus or something similar. It may give you a help in terms of slighty more accomodating marking for the exams.

3) Heatpad. Does help, if only to relax your for a short while.

4) Get your neck moving. Try and move it, it will be agony but it will eventually loosen it up.

5) Just relax, and try to do some simple revision, nothing remotely stressful or that puts strain on your neck.

Hope that helps. (BTW, I aced the exam, somehow).
