    I've got to plan a practical to prepare a ketone from butan-2-ol and then make a 2-4dinitrophenylhydrazine derivative. i can't find anything useful on the net as I need volumes and concentrations or reagents and i'm stuck. can anyone help me

    to get to a ketone u must use an oxidising agent such as Na2Cr2O7 sodium dichromate (VI). Once you have the ketone, 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazine is basically Brady's reagent and is a test for aldehydes/ketones. Your react the two together n u will get a large compund + water, hope this helps
