Do clubs accept an out of date passport?

My passport is about a month out of date. It still has a recognisable photo of me and obviously displays my date of birth.

If I show this to barman/bouncers in London bars and clubs, would they accept it or not as proof of age?

Please be sure on your answers, I wouldn't want to take it and then not get let in/served! :p:

Some will reject it for being out of date. Do you have a driving license or an indate passport you could use?

What clubs accept as ID generally depends on who you are, what you look like, how sober you are and a million of other variables.

It seems perfectly reasonable to me, which should be the main thing, but I've noticed where alcohol selling is concerned all semblance of rationality seems to have gone out the window in the last few years.

The're looking for your age, not if its valid to go out the country! Ofc it will work!!!

Which is a pretty stupid thing because even if it is out of date it's still you..

It might seem stupid but some clubs and bars will reject it. Something to do with easier for you to fake it (cut the photo out and replace etc) as you wouldn't be using it as a passport any longer.

Some might, some might not.

It's a bit ridiculous not to though. It's still you!

I was told that my cut passport (which had a photo of me from a year and a bit ago) was not sufficient ID. This was in a pub as well. They let me buy the drinks anyway, presumably because I was with about 20 people who had ID, but even so...

most will accept it so long as you're not like 10 in the photo

As said above not necessarily, as some might take an older brothers passport and cut out the photo and replace with their own. This is more than likely illegal.

No.

I've been using an out of date Israeli passport for 2 years without problem, but it's possible for them to not except an out of date one. It's at their discretion if to not accept it if it's out of date, although I doubt you'll have a problem - I never have.

It's unlikely as I know people who have been turned away with out of date passports but as other people have said it depends on the bouncer really. Being a girl, you're more likely to be let off than a bloke

I'd be amazed if they noticed

Your date of birth doesn't change when your passport expires.

One of my friends used to use an out of date passport for ID. He got turned down occasionally. He was fed the line that they aren't allowed to accept them if they are out of date. Complete nonsense of course. They can accept anything they like as long as they are sure you are over 18.

Quite easy to notice when your passport is missing a corner.

If my passport expired today, yet I continue to use it as i.d, who will chop the corner off?

When you go to renew it? Like most people do?

Depends, its risky. Some clubs can be dicks about it, the thing with out of date passports is the door staff will be more likely to assume that you're using a friend or relatives out of date passport which they've given you as they have no need for it, most of these type of passports have photos of 12 year olds on them so some clubs just so they are 100% protected refuse any out of date ID apparently.
Common sense goes out of the window when you can be fined thousands of pounds and face jail time apparently :/
