According to my Hall's Facebook page, it tends to be very Hall-orientated!

What? I always got the impression that it was something you start off doing alone. I'll certainly be attending he whole by myself for the initial part.

It might be different at certain Uni's but the JCR leader of my Hall basically said that a lot of freshers week events are very hall-orientated.

It is hall orientated. The first week everyone tends to be scared so makes riends with everyone and then enver speaks to them ever again.

Pretty simple. Get up early, go on down to the freshers fair or whatever events youve decided to go to, strip off and shout "I NEED FRIENDS!"

* Not really.

You just walk up to people who look pretty much the same as you do (nervous, looking a bit lost) and say "Hi, I'm <X> from <Y> studying <Z>, will you be my friends?" or something. Nakedness is optional.

Sim-pole.

I found that day times were spent doing things by myself - registering for course stuff etc and then the evenings were spent with the people I lived with. It seemed to be much the same for all of my friends.

Its very hall orientated at my uni. i wasn't in halls but people that were became very close to the people in their halls. Almost like a family and at the start they all stuck together so they knew people when they went out the first time. I wasn't in halls so had to go out and do it on my own but I preferred that as I ended up with more friendship groups.

I think its a bit of both really, I did a lot stuff with my flatmates but also did stuff with the fresher socials with sports and societies.

At your freshers week, do you tend to do most activities with your flatmates, or is it mostly you on your own meeting new people? I'm really nervous and confused. :frown:

First week, for me, was mostly flatmates, then the Societies started recruiting. So after the second week, I knew the rugby lot as well.

Halls for me. Although I went on a pub crawl and to a welcome party with people from my course.

During the first week I didn't really know anyone else but the people in my flat, so we did stuff together. That said, I didn't actually go out properly in fresher's week, once I think, but hated it at first and left, wasn't until I made my friends in the next couple of weeks that I actually went out and enjoyed myself. I joined the Geography society, think that is one of the best things I could have done, have made so many friends out of it. Didn't go out with my flatmates after the first week (only one of them who became a good friend).
