Hotels (Under 18)

Ok, I am going away for Glasgow for 2 nights with friends to visit unis and stuff. We are going down by bus thats all fine, but we need somewhere to stay for 2 nights (3 of us are 17, one is 16).

We were going to stay an an Etap hotel its only 34 quid each for the two days in total, but I called and they only take you if one person is over 18.

However, before I asked about the ages I asked about paying and he said I can pay by credit card or debit card on arrival, or cash on arrival but I will need ID to pay by cash.

If I go and pay by debit card, and say I am 18, then I wont need ID but do you think they would let us stay?

And where else could we stay because I think travellodge is the same?

i highly doubt they're gonna care much.
just pay by debit card, and dont mention anything about being under 18.

we came across this problem in america where one of us was meant to be over 21. they even saw our passports etc, but couldnt care less that we were underage.
