I know of someone doing it and apparently the workload is ridiculous, the travel is exhausting and the hours are mental.

yeah but the pay is like 40k starting, you make regional manager in 18 months AND you get an audi car

AMAZING.

i saw this a while ago and though it looked pretty swish

Would you really want to work for ALDI? Even as a regional manager?

I've done some research into it and yes it is 40-45k starting salary. Its called the Area Management Grad scheme, you have tO work as a normal Aldi worker for 1 month doing all the low end jobs.

Then you get put in charge of 1 store while you complete the rest of the training and after 1 year or however long it takes to complete the training you become an area manager and get put in charge of 4 ish stores.

After 3 years if you're doing well you could get promoted to director of a regional sector which would put you in charge of 75 ish stores and move your wages upto 60k.

However I think 60k is where it usually stops unless you're really exceptional, its a decent salary however other jobs will exceed this over time where as here you're unlikely to get much higher wages. And like someone already said they work you like a dog.

I'm probably going to keep an eye on it and ask a few questions but I'm still looking down Retail Banking or a big 4 company as my first and second choice areas to work in.

I looked at this but the crazy hours put me off, no amount of money will buy my relaxation time. Also everyone I know who has gone on this scheme dropped out within the first year.

Although the salary is attractive, the job description really isn't attractive at all. I don't fancy working 12 hour days and spending hours on end driving between Aldi stores. What's the point of having money if you've got no time to enjoy it?

Reply 10

wow looks like a good opportunity, although the job is **** the pay and car isnt bad.

I applied for this, got invited to the group interview but didn't make it any further. The workload is huge but it'll pay off after a few years when you get promoted even higher. They get a stupid amount of applications though, something like 150 per day in the South East alone.

Salary: good
Work benefits (car): good
Company: so damn crap it's embaressing!
40k is not enough to get me to work for a company like Aldi, I'd rather earn half that and work for a top international insitution :yep: plus eventually the promotions over the years will put you well ahead of the Aldi job, the top tier limit for the salary must not be all that high.

Did they tell you why you didn't make it any further?

No, but I didn't feel like I performed particularly well in the interview so I didn't ask. If you do decide to apply, feel free to pm me for interview tips (you'll need them, believe me!).

There's a reason they have to offer such good benefits to convince people to take the job...

Nope, and they don't pay expenses.

How are you defining 'top' and 'international'?

What job are you hoping to get that will promote you above 60k?

Why couldnt an area manager apply for jobs in another company (if there is a salary ceiling in ALDI which I doubt)?

You MAY make regional manager in 18 months. You MAY be fired.

When will you have time to drive the car other than between stores? - this isn't a 5 day a week 9-5 job...
