clicky

research the company before you take the risk.
just to make sure.

i have heard of them before and nearly bought a laptop off them once, but shop around, chances are you will end up like me and find something brand new with similar if not better specs for not much more. When it comes to stuff as expensive as laptops its best to buy them brand new as many insurers will not insure 'refurbed' laptops, which is a problem seeing as they only have a 3 month warranty.

Remember, some bargains don't stay bargains so i would say buy one with a longer warranty and that you can insure. better be safe than sorry imo.

good luck

I can vouch for them as a company- I've made a fair few purchases from them and they've always delivered on time, and the good have always been perfect.
But yeah, there's always more risk when you buy refurb, only you can decide if it's worth it.

Reply 6

I bought a pc from them and got scammed for £2040, then £5020 and then £2000! That's a lot of money. DON'T DO IT.

Has anyone done it before? The warranty is 3 months but it's the laptop I desperately want...It has been discontinued and replaced by the newer models, so can't buy it anywhere else. It's Grade A1 refurbished (as new).

Need your advice guys!

If you don't mind changing the brand, you can get that spec (but with a better graphics card) for about £370 from dell outlet (dell studio inspiron 1555), comes with a 1 year warrantry, and it's a reputable company. But laptops direct isn't dodgy so don't worry about that. Just saying you can save yourself a small fortune!

Also try picking out components for a laptop at www.pcspecialist.co.uk, compare the prices just in case it might be cheaper.

Thans guys! I ended up taking my chances and buying the laptop. I couldn't find it anywhere else and this is the laptop I wanted, so... I got a one year warranty as well. I made sure to speak to the sales team beforehand and get them to explain everything to me in a clear manner. The laptop will be with me in 4 working days so I will post then to update you guys!

I am still waiting for the laptop to arrive, as I ordered it to come through regular delivery, however, after checking my bank acc today, I have noticed laptops direct charged me twice!!! I called them up and they said they will return the money today. The guy on the phone was a real asshole and didn't even make an effort to apologize! I told him I really didn't appreciate the way they are dealing with people and that charging me twice for 600 something pounds was simply outrageous. He couldn't give me an explanation why this hasn't happened...USELESS!

Thanks

I got the laptop this morning and the money, as far as I can see from my bank acc, has been returned. I haven't switched it on yet, so no idea how it works internally, but on the outside it's certainly brand new. I love it!

Got a laptop from them that doesn't work. I didn't use it when it was delivered for the first few months as I started uni in September and only needed it for my assignments. It has been the biggest problem nothing works the laptop is slow and they can't do anything for me as my warranty only covered me for 3 months. Do not buy!!!
