']Not definite a no, but I just prefer the look of Nottingham and the city/accomodation/surroundings etc... I really don't know why but I have gone off Warwick slightly as I did originally love it, but now I know it's the best uni for maths out of my 5, but Nottingham and Bristol aren't exactly bad or anything.
Do you reckon you'll firm Warwick then?
It's funny, I wasn't too sure about Warwick before visiting, but loved it there Although I'm not 100% sure if I'll firm yet though (if I get an offer that is). Since I'm doing further maths AS my offer will be A*AAa 2/M So I would see how I do in January exams to know whether I think I'll achieve that! Also, this may sound silly, but I feel for some reason that I'm just not 'academic' enough, I've heard maths at Warwick is pretty intense. Another thing I guess is I'm scared that although I loved the look of it on the open day; being in a 'bubble', as some put it, would drive me insane after a few years. Despite these things I think as long as my January exams go well I can't imagine declining the offer, and ideally I'll be putting Nottingham as a high insurance. (I'm presuming a Bristol rejection after seeing a lot of people being rejected on the 2009 maths thread)

I feel exactly the same about the whole 'academic' thing, and also getting that A in Psychology, as I was a mark off an A last year so it's not definite I'll get the A this year, especially considering the exams are harder this year. I'd so much rather the offer be A*AB than AAA for that reason. And also the fact that Warwick is in Coventry and I don't fancy living there after the 1st year and Leamington Spa is too far away for a 9am lecture...

Yeah definitely, I got a B in chemistry last year (I mucked up one of the exams and got a C and an A between the two modules) and although I'm quite confident I should do well in my retake I'm scared I won't be able to get that A this year in the A2 units. It's annoying because last year there typical offer was AAB 2/AABa 2...that would have been a lot nicer! Yeah, I didn't really see much of coventry when I went tbh, is it as bad as some people make out?

Well I can't say I've ever lived there, but I have a friend who grew up there who doesn't exactly live in the nicest place in Liverpool and they've said that it's better there than in coventry... Other people have said not to live there too if I went to Warwick so.... Have you been to Bristol?

Yeah, my psychology teacher grew up in Coventry and advised me not to go near there! To be honest it didn't look that bad from the train station to the university, just a bit average.
Yupyup Bristol was very nice as a city and a university. I've always been more of a fan of campus universities but Bristol was an exception, the place had a nice feeling about it. It was different from the others because the maths department, like all the departments I believe, was pretty small, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Overall though I'm not too sure where Bristol stands and will definitely be making another visit if I get an offer
See this is what I'm worried about. Don't get me wrong, I'm applying for maths for a reason and I'm not someone who wants to go to university for purely the lifestyle. I just don't know whether I want to be in that environment.

So if not Warwick, would you go for Nottingham or Bristol?

Kenilworth is nice as well as close if you can get a place there. Also there are nice places in Coventry with in reach. I have lived in both although it was a long time ago.....
