So lunch is not provided? I mean do they give you a card to buy food with at one of the uni outlets or does lunch come out of your own pocket?

Not REALLY catered is it, if theyre missing out a whole meal.
Why would they provide a meal when most people will be at UNIVERSITY?

No they don't give you lunch- I was rarely if ever 'at home' ie in halls at lunch time, instead I was on campus. They don't give you a card either you just get your own lunch.

TBH I thought that was how most catered accommodation even in different unis worked.

It's not that bad, come on.

Lunch is paid for by you. I think if you miss breakfast or going to miss dinner you can get a meal voucher and buy something on campus.

Sure its not full catering but so what, you have small kitchens so you can prepare lunches.

Damn. I wish I'd known that last year! I could count the number of times I actually went to breakfast the whole of last year on my fingers!

Well Nottingham Uni does 3 meals on weekdays and 2 on weekends, so I figured that was the norm.

But the meal voucher idea sounds pretty good. Im guessing most people miss breakfast anyway, since 7-9 is pretty early :P

Whats breakfast like btw? Toast and stuff,? I guess if I said full english I'd be expecting too much!

Also is it right people staying at Digby have meals at Beaumont?

Well if its anything like Notts, it'll be cereal, muesli, toast on weekdays and full english (mass produced full english) on weekends.

Haha so If I went to the front of the queue and asked that my sausages needed to be burnt to a crisp and needed to be used as a breakwater between the beans and eggs, I'd be told to get stuffed?!

Theyre cooked as they are, but you can arrange them on your plate however you like :P
Like to point out, i wasn't catered last year :P i just hear bits and bobs from people who were. Im pretty sure you can get dinner vouchers, but breakfast im not so sure, as i imagine many people would just abuse the system so they didn't have to wake up early. I don't think its straight forward getting vouchers, for the same reason that it costs them money to do it as your not eating mass cooked crap.

OMG! I didn't do the all day saturday all you can eat breakfast at the redfern last year, missed it alll year. BAH!

True. I never thought it was worth going (out of the very few times I did go for breakfast) just for ceral though (I did have to walk from Digby mind you) so forgive me for considering breakfast only until 9. A 20 minute round trip for ceral isn't worth it. I think they should open the Digby dining hall if only for breakfast, how expensive could that be? It'll make everyone there happy and make most people actually wake up to go to breakfast!

Does anyone know if we get an evening meal on the Sunday we move in??
Reply 17
I would say so, yes. I can't remember if I did last year, but I would say it is the most likely option.
