Well, here we live in halls/uni accommodation for the whole time, so can't comment on the benefits of living out. However, halls are a great way to get to know people, although if you like to have your own space and be quiet a lot you might not get on so well

my sister is staying in the halls and she hates it because her room is tiny. On the other hand though, it's brill cos all her friends go into her room after they have been the pub to watch Phoneix Nights.

Room size varies between universities - look at prospectuses etc to get an idea... Mine's massive, but other ones aren't.

I know a few people who choose not to go in halls for the first year and they say they wished they had because you get to meet so many new people that way. I am going to go into halls. Another benefit is that it is usually cheaper and has an internet connection!

Do you parents just think that you'll get more work done if you aren't in halls?

Where are you applying that doesn't have halls?
