I used to work 30 hrs part time nightshift. That was physically manageable but not worth it at all.

I think 20 hrs a week is a good amount if you can plan your time carefully.

I'd like to know too

I worked up to 50 hours a week alongside my course. Didn't do anything else, really, but didn't struggle.

about 12-15. Sometimes more, sometimes less. 12*5.50=£66 which should be enough to pay for food and the odd night out.

In first year we are allowed, but strongly discouraged from, working up to eight hours a week. Frankly though you shouldn't have the time.

 I have too much time! Guess it depends on course though. I study politics, only have 9 hours formal teaching a week.

I work about 15-20 hours a week, but then again i could work 10hours, and still be pretty happy, ha climbing instructor wages are good

I think it just depends how much you can balance it with everything else, and still be happy.

I worked around 15 hours a week which was more than doable during my International Business degree. I would have worked more hours but luckily didn't need to... I was working as a bouncer on £10 an hour which payed enough for me to live on as I only got a small grant and loan.

12 hours a week, but depends on which part of the course I'm on I could easily put in 20 hours if there was overtime.

10.5 per week.

Well as a Full Time student at college going 9-5 monday to friday, I can still manage 25 hours a week.

So as a student at university I hope I can still do the same especially as there are less subject hours

Hope you can do well

I just left, in final year now.

I worked 18 hours in 1st year, 22 hours in 2nd year and 25 hours in 3rd year and beginning of 4th year. It was fine- struggled a bit in 3rd year but I have crappy time management skills with essays anyway.

If you have 15 hours or less of lectures and you don't have a constant amount of deadlines, 20 hours a week is fine. It depends on how much use you make of your free time. Personally- working less than 8 hours seems like more effort than what you'd be earning. I earned €15k a year.

I work 40 hours, 50 if I’ve finished all my assignments. 60 in holidays (Christmas/spring). I do aerospace engineering (specializing in astrospace) for you to gauge the difficulty of my course. You need a lot of drive.. for me it was hard but it was extremely personal I had been through too many bad experiences and money could have prevented a few of them ( although I think I got a bit carried away but I was earning £875 a week and now I’m buying a house next spring from it and I’m only 20) it’s definitely doable though. My friend does a double major (one being law) and she works 40 hours. Pain drives people.

Hello all,

The clue is in the title.

How many hours do you work? Do you struggle managing uni and work?

I've applied to a few jobs, all between 9 - 15 hours per week. Just wondering what you all think would be too much from your experiences.

Thankyas.

depends on the course. I’m on a vet med course so I do 40 ish hours a week (this is excluding extra work/coursework/revision which is probably max like 20 hours extra) but this is high for a course. Even then I know people who work 15 hours a week (evenings)
