Level 2 qualification, equivalent in GCSEs?

Everyone in my school has to do the "OCR Nationals ICT Level 2" course, which apparently counts as 2 GCSEs. I managed to get 2 Distinctions which I am very happy with (top grade), but nobody seems to know much about the course, even the teacher  .

So, I just wanted to know whether the qualification will be accepted at a university etc as the equivilant number of GCSEs (like if I wanted to apply to oxbridge), and whether a Distinction counts as an A grade or an A* grade (has been much argued about with mates)!

Cheers

You managed to get this qualification and aspire to attending oxbridge, yet you cannot successfully operate Google?

If you completed three units, you have the equivalent of two GCSEs in ICT. Universities understand the National Qualification Framework so you won't need to explain it to them. The distinction is equivalent to grade A but counts as if it is halfway between A and A* in the school league tables.
Yes, a level 2 qualification is equivalent to a GCSE!

Haha, well I was mainly wondering about the grade thing, but the other question just popped up in my head as I was writing it, seemed important at the time, should have googled that one I guess (dumb moment) :o:. The grade thing doesn't yield much on google, tried that earlier. Good to know for sure.

Thanks

I was told:
Distinction is A grade
Merit is B grade
Pass is C grade

Congratulations on 2 distinctions though

That is almost true. Pass is exactly a C. Merit is between a B and an A and Distinction is between an A and an A*.

Yeah, I'm sure it counts as two GCSEs on my exam sheet I have 2 x A* for BTEC Sport and 2 x A for BTEC Performing Arts. Both three unit courses.

P.S. To get an A* I think you need to get a distinction in all the units and for a A you would probably need something like DDM in the units.
