Product Design project ideas

Im just about to start A2 Product Design and Ive been given an open brief for my project..
I have absolutely no idea what to design and manufacture

can anyone help with some ideas? (bear in mind I have to be able to make it in a workshop in roughly 6 months)

Im told that highest marks are awarded to those students who identify a problem and then design a product to solve this, rather than just designing a new toy or a chair...

helloooo. do do product design, and im doing A2 next year also.

i have my idea, but the best ideas come out the blue, when living normal. Just carry on as normal, and moan about everything, see whats crap about a product.

see how a product can be improved etc, you know the rest :wink:

yeah im well into the design development now..

i decided to focus on recycling and am designing a table made out of old bicycle parts, so not quite the 'solving a problem' angle i was going for but my teacher seems pleased and im enjoying it
do you do product design?

yeah I did it and got A that I was very happy with. :smile:

I 87/90 and 86/90 for the coursework and the design ( I made a table) that I still need to pick up from the school. The exam part though was my weakest part. I felt that I should have prepared more and at the time couldn't generate any good ideas for the design part and i was interrupted by a toilet break as I drunk too much orange juice beforehand. I also brought too much in my pencil case that I didn't need.
I really enjoyed product design and had some funny times with other students making 'bodge jobs' and other awkward moments! :woo:

Yep in the same position as you! I have no idea on what to make! Got an A overall in AS and going for the A* in A2.

The main problem for me is that may other students make big things like tables and chairs at my school!! I just want to make something small transportable (back to home) and reasonably cheap!) Too much to ask for!?!
I want to make some kind of furniture but Google images has not been much help to far!

If anyone know any website or has any ideas to help me get the ideas running would be greatly appreciated!
