nah I'm doing nearly the same(see sig) and as long as you're organised it's okay lol(well actually i'm far from organized... :p: );
the best advice I can give to all first-year IB students is to follow the syllabus of each subject(find it on a site like ibpapers.net) and make sure you know every point(I sometimes notice teachers can miss some), this is especially valid for science courses. Then for exams/tests do past papers, and do as much as you can as I often notice that the books they give have exercises that do not prepare correctly; if you want revision material for bio, phys or math PM me. And also some reading aside on your subjects can help as the studied subject is no longer "just that school subject" but "that subject to which you can relate to in everyday life"(hmm maybe thats bad advice as i tend to see vectors and forces a bit everywhere nowadays :rolleyes: )
For essay based subjects(e.g. history) read around, such as 1 or 2 books on the cold war and the Arab-Israeli conflict(or whatever subject your history teacher chose) and write practice essays at home; even if their bad essays you can reread them after on to revise, you'll remember so much better by reading your own stuff than from reading that textbook the teacher gave you. Also having the grading criteria under your eyes helps to keep your essay focused.
Start you EE early, as in plan it; you'll be really thankful if you've done it over the summer(or winter for november ppl) of DP1 to DP2. Also it's a great occasion to learn loads about an area of your favourite subject
Also TOK may be your most boring class ever but still take it seriously, it can give you this extra point you need for uni. And also, it actually is interesting if you bother reading some epistemology(esp philosophy of science):yes:
hmm theres loads more to add, i might edit later
yea sorry for stating the obvious but someone has to do it :p:
So yeah good luck everyone

also enjoy your social life; don't lock yourself up in a dark room:biggrin:

Hmm are you allowed?
Part A3.1 of the IB Vade Mecum 2009 states that only 4 HL maximum are allowed:
The IBO
When selecting subjects for a diploma:

at least three and not more than four subjects must be offered at higher level (HL) and the others at standard level (SL)

(source)
Because I tried to take 5 HL and they wouldn't let me; to do so your IB coordinator has to send an email to IB cardiff(or whatever region you're in) and provide reasons as to why you need to do 5 HL or more and then you can get a possibility for taking 5 HL; however all the people at my school that have asked for more than 4 HL have been refused(though not that many actually ask for this)...
If you're school gets authorisation then I envy you :P

Ah,my school didn't mention that :rolleyes:, neither did the IB cardiff people iirc...
But I do remember reading this thing about being able to do an IB subject just for credit, without the diploma.
