haha, that's a bit strange

I haven't any information on whether it can be changed but I'd like to know if it took long to do the pre-reg stuff?

I can't remember my initial username for the applicant's portal, does anybody know where I can get a hold of this?

lol I heard about this from current Nottingham students. Apparently it can't be changed. At least mine is a somewhat catchy eeydst1!

I think it's your initial username is your UCAS ID number.
It looks quite random but you do get used to it after a while. I think it's based on some department or course codes...most people who do a similar course have the same one I think

You're stuck with it. I think someone's already explained a couple of times how it's put together. Do a search.
Also I wouldn't suggest you put your email address out there for the world to see.

It stays the same unfortunately, OP :frown:
not many students use the portal for emails though I only use mine for verifciation of student or some sites and the odd message. I route the others to my hotmail inbox.

Its a course specific prefix followed by your initials, which means if you stay for postgrad you end up with multiple email addresses and the confused expression I am currently modelling.

I actually became quite fond of mine by the end of the three years.
your old one gets de-activated, i think it happens midnight tonight.
My postgrad one is short which I like, but I miss my undergrad one
mines a few sodding numbers 9500047358, hmmmm i am known as sodding a number
They're all the same, you use the username bit and password eveywhere unless it'states otherwise

So I did all the pre-reg stuff online today, and I've got the most random collection of letters as my university username! Any ideas if this gets changed on arrival or if it's possible to get it changed, because I don't want to be immortalised as ********************

mod edit: please don't post your email address

This post by alex-hs has more information on how the email address has been made up
I just got mine! I can't seem to log into the portal though, can anyone else?

It'll probably take a day or two for your new username and password to propagate through to every system - try again tomorrow or the day after.

I get to keep my undergrad one as well cos I'm speshul. :ahee:

I asked to keep it cos of the database of participants I'd built up, so if old volunteers use my old one they still get to me.
The same thing happened to me- i really wanted countjackula *tear, but instead im something like lgydjm.

Im'a have to think of some crazy acronym to remember this sheet.

How do you do that? When I input my Uni email address and password it said it couldnt connect to the POP mail server :s-smilie:
on mine i go to my blackboard and then account and route emails that way by changing the default email address but doing it via outlook i wouldn't know
