oh good, I'm glad I'm not on my own. Do you know anything about it? There is hardly anything on the website... whats really annoyed me is they are charging me £10.00 a week more for somewhere I don't want to be!!! I just hope I don't feel isolated if I get put with a load of people from the st luke's campus :frown:
On facebook there seems to be a lot of people who have been placed there. It sucks that you're going to be that far out.

I know this is no consolation, but I live in Exeter (and don't go to the uni) but there are some awesome takeaway shops within 5 minutes of that place:smile: x
Hi, I lived in Rowancroft Court last year. I am a medic, and yes rowancroft is mostly medics and sport scientists who are based at St Lukes, but I know a few people who are based at Streatham but lived at Rowancroft. It will be annoying cos Streatham is a little way away. Do you know how many hours a week you have? Most of my best mates where the people in my halls, so I'm sure in that respect it won't matter that your course it at the other campus. Also, there might be the chance to move over to Streatham after a few months if there is space. One of my flat mates did Business at Streatham and he moved after the first term. Rowancroft is a nice place to live, in court the rooms are nice and big, and I never had to que for the bathroom. The kitchens are pretty small, but we got around it by being patient/cooking together. Don't worry about it too much, I'm sure you'll have a great time at Exeter!!

At Rowancroft there are Rowancroft Court, Rowancroft Mews, Rowancroft House, and a whole new bit which, in a fit of inventiveness, I think is just called Rowancroft. Altogether it looks like there'll be more than 350 people living there this year, so first off it's not like you'll be on your lonesome, and added to that and it's a safe bet that quite a few of them will be studying at the Streatham campus too.

And, like grape said, there are local shops and takeaways - literally just up the road there's a whole street with a Somerfield, a late-night shop at the garage, takeaways, and other shops including my favourite charity shop (I know, I know. But it is!) And, just because you aren't studying at St Luke's there's no reason you can't use the stuff there, like the bar and so on - and, actually, St Luke's is where the indoor swimming pool is, which could be handy. Plus, if you nip through the St Luke's campus you come out on Magdalen Road which is a really nice row of shops with a greengrocer, fishmonger, butcher, deli - you name it - and I definitely recommend checking them out. Especially the florentines from the deli. And the orange cake.

Is that helping on the cheering up front?

I'll be honest I've got over the initial feeling of dissapointment and im quite looking forward to it. They are doing a offer on the student bus pass during freshers week as well so it won't be that much hassle to get to campus. Roll on the 26th

lol, yes, it has really helped!! :p: I'm feeling much better, thank you so much for helping me out with the info and that. It looks and sounds like a nice place to live, is there much countryside/greenery near by? thats part of why I wanted to be at streatham so much because I loved the idea of being able to walk out my door and into a field!!! Thank you so much xx

I think the houses with different names are in the new bit that's just called Rowancroft, whereas Rowancroft Court doesn't have individually named bits in the same way (if that makes any sense - I'm almost confusing myself, here!) so they probably can't tell you anything more at the mo.

OK, Rowancroft is here (only where there's a big grey blob in the image, there are now the new buildings). There's a little bit of green space behind Rowancroft itself (complete with a strange new sculpture of an arm holding a degree scroll coming out of the ground!?!).

If you zoom out a bit, and look to the right, you can see the park in Heavitree which is a fair chunk of green space nearby. You're also not far from the river - basically, straight downwards along Barrack Road takes you there; it's walkable and would be super-speedy on a bike. If you head for the river, not only do you get nice green spaces, but you also come out really quite close to Double Locks, which is a nice pub by the canal (and St Luke's is a lot closer to it than Streatham is - ha!). If you're up for a longer bike ride, then heading along the canal brings you to Turf Locks which is an even nicer pub on the Exe estuary.

thank you so much, that map is amazing! I've just spent the last 10 mins playing with it!!I think I may seriously consider taking my bike though, it would really help with getting me to and from the campus and it would keep me fit!! There seems enough green to keep me happy anyway, I think in some ways this is a good thing. Its the best of both worlds, I will get to know Exeter as a city really well aaaand it won't come as such a shock in the second year because I'll have already of been living off campus :yep: I really appreciate all your help, its made me feel so much better!
