I'm there too, davies house, studying at streatham. I'm frankly devastated, DID NOT apply there and exeter was my first choice, not best pleased to be paying £4,500 a year to have to pay bus fare to get to all my lectures. I could cry.
Am also gradually coming around to the idea, will consider taking a bike. lol Very glad about the subsidised bus pass!!!!
know how you feel at least we're in the same boat eh? Any ideas how much this bus pass will be? The bike does seem a good idea but I know what England is like for rain and also we're going to have to be getting books/laptops etc up there... dunno, sure it will all become clear. I'm sure we'll be there a few weeks and will be glad they put us in Rowancroft, you will probs meet some of your best mates there, and if you weren't put there you wouldn't ever meet them eh? Ok so its loose lol but I'm trying to convince myself as much as I'm trying to convince you!!!
I got mine through yesterday also, im in the Francais House building of Rowancroft, which is one of the new builds I believe. I'll be joining a few of you on the walk to Streatham Campus, im sure at a brisk pace we can make it in under 30mins...

haha yeah ok, lets start a 'walking club'- it will be fuuun guys!! and we'll keep fit!
I just found a good website which has pictures of the new building as of september, it looks really nice actually. Also notice the bike racks, I may end up using one of those!
I'll join the walking club too. The local buses are pretty damn expensive just so you all know but the D service (the one we'll be getting) is a bit cheaper than the rest.
Going to look at Rowancroft this afternoon now I've accepted the offer. The pictures look nice but I want to see it up close! I'll report my findings later. I'm not allowed inside the halls apparently but I can walk around the outside of the buildings.

I wandered past and had a look round the other day, and the new build stuff looks really nice.
This is good news. So will we be living in the new buildings or some old buildings? I have no idea.
EDIT
Actually for those who don't know which block they are living in, we will find out in a couple of weeks time. Just got off the phone to the accommodation office. I guess I'm just happy to have somewhere to live even if I don't know where it is exactly haha :P.

If you're in Rowancroft Court or Mews, those are the existing buildings. If you're in Rowancroft and then a name like 'Garden House' or whatever, then that's the new bit.

I've just been told I'm living there and I'm pretty gutted about it tbh as I'm studying at Streatham Campus. Could anyone tell me anything about it? Or is anyone else staying there? (especially those studying at streatham) I really need cheering up
SAME! Oh dear, I sent them an email as soon as I got it, and they basically said "that's all we've got".
Don't worry, you won't be alone. I'm glad I'm not ^^

What course are you doing?
Yeah there's a few of us in the same boat I guess. But the accommodation is nice I looked at it today and its like a tiny village. The NEW buildings look much nicer but I guess they also cost more but meh. We'll have to have a walking group haha. Bus comes every 15 mins apparently though.

Well I didn't on this occasion but I have done in the past. My girlfriend lives a little further up Heavitree road than Rowancroft and it took us about 45mins to walk from Streatham back home. So yeah the best part of an hour to walk there I'd say. About 20 mins into the centre of town though which is nice. Centre of town could be too noisy for some so this is quite a nice location to live in.

whoooa!! you're joking?! I got told it would take 25 mins ish!!!! I think I may invest in that bus pass from freshers week... any thoughts on how much that would cost? I'm reeeally trying to stay positive about this, but its a bit hard
wow that looks really lovely also- you live in cornwall!!! where abouts?? x
Yeah, I live in Launceston which is about 40mins drive away. I dont really intend to go home that often, but its just a handy distance incase anything is needed urgently. Im feeling much more upbeat about living in Rowancroft now, it looks like there will be plenty of us making the trip to Streatham.
