Yeah, I live in Launceston which is about 40mins drive away. I dont really intend to go home that often, but its just a handy distance incase anything is needed urgently. Im feeling much more upbeat about living in Rowancroft now, it looks like there will be plenty of us making the trip to Streatham.

oooh, I live in penzance, up the other end!! I'm feeling better about it too now, I think it will be a nice little community and the smaller flats suit me better (I was getting a bit worried about having to live with 12 other people!!). I am serioiusly considering taking my bike though, there are cycle paths and its free! :yep:

Yep, Rowancroft Court.
I think if a minority of us are in Streatham Campus they should put us all in the same house, but so glad your with me (and the OP ofc)

really?! oh that would be fantastic!!! I really hope they do that, I'm a bit worried I'm going to be the only one in the flat among a load of st luke's people (I'm sure they're lovely but still  ) I heard somewhere that its the 21st of sept that we can get the numbers but don't quote me on that! I really want to know, makes it more real somehow!!

I'll be honest I've got over the initial feeling of dissapointment and im quite looking forward to it. They are doing a offer on the student bus pass during freshers week as well so it won't be that much hassle to get to campus. Roll on the 26th

Student bus pass? Never heard of one of these before  link?
Also, on the plus side, Rowancroft is very close to Chadni Indian restaurant on Heavitree Road which does an AMAZING all you can eat indian buffet on Sunday nights
The walk to Streatham might get annoying but it really isn't that bad, I used to go there with my cello fine. You can get there in about 15 mins on a bike. Chadni's is great!!!

Hmmm. For me I would say no, because I catch the bus once a week. Tops. If I were you I'd check the bus routes to see if you'd actually be able to catch the bus easily from Rowancroft to Streatham campus. I know the D bus definitely runs regularly between St Lukes and Streatham. It also depends on whether you're going to go to campus every day. £300 sounds like an awful lot of money to me. I probably spend £10-15 a term max. on buses.

thanks, I agree with you. I just did a lot of complicated maths (took me a whille because I am baaad at maths!) and worked out that you would actually be paying two pound per day that you used it if you minus the weekends and the days you are at home (77 days holiday out of 266 days included and minus the 54 days that are weekend days) do you know how much a return would be on the d bus between st luke's and streatham?? thanks so much, you've been very helpful xx

£3 max I'd say, for a return between Lukes and Streatham.

Yep it is. You might be better walking into town and getting the bus from there. It might be a bit less than £3 for a return between Lukes and Streatham, but it probably won't be more. Once you get down there just see how much you're using the bus and how much its costing you. You can always buy a bus pass a couple of weeks into the term. In your 2nd year you'll almost certainly be living closer to Streatham and town so you definitely won't need one. One of my friends insists that there's no need for anyone to use the buses in Exeter anyway, and she's quite right as everywhere you need is in walking distance. But 45 minutes to campus is a bit much I agree, especially when its raining, cold etc.

I've also been told I will be staying in Rowancroft court but will be studying English at Streatham. Anyone else studying English and staying here?

I'm so upset as I feel I'll be away from everything going on in Streatham campus especially on freshers week. Is it easy to keep friends with people staying on Streatham if your staying nearer St Lucas? Also is there any chance to change where you're staying?

It's going to be so annoying if I'm on Streatham and realised I've forgotten something or want to go back to my room for some reason. Is it worth bringing a car down? I just don't want to be cut off from everyone on my course and for people to forget about me cos I'm 40 minutes away!

I need someone to tell me it's going to be OK!!!

thankyou! I've been speaking and thinking about it a lot more and a feel a little better about it. At least there are other people so we can all be together. If we're all not in the same house we have to have a time to all meet up

"Future neighbours" - its so strange thinking that we're all gonna be living with one another when I've only spoken to you all on TSR :p:

Haha! If only!

As far as the transport situation goes, i just went out my garage looking for my bike, (which i haven't used in 10 years and incidentally had 2 flat, punctured tires anyway!), and found one of those old metal handheld scooters from the 90s! lol, they may look a bit odd, but they are mighty fast!

Do you think if i took one to speed up my 40min treck to streatham that it would be a good idea? or that I would look like a dweeb? lol

Be brutal!!
