ok im fine with haber and ostwald, but the contact process i dont know much about. i know sulphur dioxide is oxidised to sulphur trioxide... i think...!

2SO2(g) + O2(g) <---> 2SO3(g)

so what happens once you have the sulphur trioxide??? how do you get to sulphuric acid?

SO3 + H2S04 --------> H2S207 (oleum)

H20 + H2S207 --------> 2H2S04

V2O5 acts as the catalyst in the reaction

SO32- + 1/2O2 --> SO42-

Occurs in two stages:

SO32- + V2O5 --> SO42- + V2O4

V2O4 + 1/2O2 --> V2O5
