yes, I had an email today. I'm at KGH too, so the commute shouldn't take as long as I anticipated. I think there's only 15 of us there. :afraid:
I shall see you there.

So, I'm back in Hull and have pretty much moved into my new house.

Good times! Got some great housemates, so I'm looking forward to the coming year.

So did I. For total knee replacment.Taking my lack of basic anatomy knowledge exposed on daily basis I am suprised that they let me anywhere near the table. :ashamed: It was a bit scary with all this sawing, hammering and bits of bone flying all around me :yikes: but at least I could see exactly what was going on. Got to play with the cement as well. Self-heating playdough, so much fun.

Maybe :ninja:

I've absolutely loved my ortho attachment so far. It's been fantastic. I've gasped more than a couple of times having seen pre/post-op radiographs, and today was just.. brilliant! Absolutely looking forward to next week now, trauma clinic

Cool. Mine was a tendon repair in the hand, amazing! I didn't see any bits of bone flying or anything though, maybe soon :p:

Dodging bone fragments is half the fun of orthopaedics The other half is seeing how much saline you can cover your assistant in while you wash out bones as they stand there mumbling swear words under their breath

I had a proper saline shower but at least it removed all the bone fragments that I didn't manage to dodge.

Haha. I had a lovely consultant, the saline didn't get beyond le gloves, woo Though I imgaine you wouldn't have much of an excuse for drenching the assistant when you're sitting.
What are you (planning to) sub-specialise in? I like hands and then spine best so far

I've started getting bleeped by random F1s and nurses from other wards to come and cannulate their patients. Which has sterted to get annoying. Luckily after an aggressive day of discharging yesterday, I only have one patient who isn't awaiting social and needing active management, so I have time on my hands.

Does anyone here use the new Nexiva cannulas, I don't much like them, but others seem to. Bring back the Venflon PS!

What's special about them? I'm still a lover of syringes for those difficult veins, so I probably won't be able to adjust to such a radical change in equipment.

It's different when it's real punters, the mess on your fingers tastes different too.
