Street parking

Just wondering if anyone knows any roads near or in town that don't require a permit to park there (and not just for a few hours)? It seems to be September 21st (ish) when the permit scheme starts up again.

My house is on a main road with double yellow lines, so doesn't have parking allocated to it, and may not be able to sort out a space before I get there.

Thanks

the map is there.

Anything not in a zone is free parking basically. The area near shelthrope which comes off Park Road (like when you get to just past where the noodle bar is on the one way system and then turn left instead of following back around to the right).... and the first exit off the roundabout by mc donalds and tesco ! I used to live in Herrick road and its fairly quiet with a fair few parking spaces.

Oh, also, parking permits are valid for any street within your zone. So you can get a yearly permit (which is 20 pounds) and just park in a nearby street within that zone. Guest passes are like 5 pounds for 10 days worth of permits.

I'm living on The Rushes, which Derby Road turns into, right across from Amber Rooms.
I've spoken to Council and because The Rushes isn't included in the preferential parking scheme, they can't issue me a permit.
Hopefully my landlord can sort me out with one by beginning of Oct from other houses he rents, but need somewhere to park near mine from Sept 24th.
Could you show me where you mean please?

Thanks for the suggestions Lisa, hopefully can find somewhere within easy walking distance of my flat
Could you park round the back of the Brush Social club? You know the road that runs behind that, near the church - I think that's free parking, and it's fairly near to The Rushes.

I just googled Brush Social Club and it's on Fennel Street? Which according to this parking zone map, isn't included so hopefully there is free parking there! Thanks  Will definitely check it out.
Sainsburys Car Park...?

If you ain't going to use your car much or at all for those days, you can park it around mine...?

Well, in the front of it it's a road with double yellow lines, so no parking there, but if you go around the corner, there should be a pub (The Three Nuns, I think), and then a bit further down there's a road with a church - it's that road, lol. Just have a scout around that area, it's fairly near to where you're living, so it's worth a shot? You could try outside the library? I'm not sure if there are parking restrictions there... I don't tend to park around town, cause my car is in a parking zone area lol, and if I do, I just park in Somerfields. If you don't mind the walk, and the public parking, you could park outside Southfields park, next to the A6?

Sainsbury's has signs all over it saying it's 3 hour parking or something! And you can get tickets and what not.
Might have to take you up on that if I can't find parking nearby.
Are you going to be there on the 24th? You'd be my saviour! I'll try elsewhere first of course
