Yeah, straight History.
My emails going a bit screwed up on me atm, but it was about 4.00pm

Oh man, guess that means I haven't got one :frown:

Well done on your interview anyway man, best of luck to you

Good Luck to everyone applying. History at Oxford is such a great course (I study it at Christ Church). There is a huge variety of period choices you simply would not get at other universities.
To ensure interview success make sure you can talk cogently about a particular aspect or period of history that interests you- and try to read up on some historiography, knowing the difference between a marxist, social or political approach is always helpful. More advanced candidates may want to even venture into the realms of Pocock's work....

Haha, don't be sorry

I don't know if we do, but maybe they'll give it to us is we ask? You should ask for it at interview when they ask if you have any questions?

That would be a good idea, but I worry the reply will be something on the lines of 'You really don't want to know', thus leaving my failure fresh in their minds

Yeah I guess that's probably like the worst case scenario, but I'm sure you did well  Don't worry anyway, least you got your interview so it can't have been bad! :P

True, true. I can't believe people still haven't heard back yet! The interview is so soon. Maybe the snow's getting in the way of letters?

Well the latest we can know is Wednesday, so I'm hoping that it arrives tomorrow but it's going to be harder to deliver because it's going to snow harder tonight D:

FML, just want it all to end :P

I think they send out all their decisions at the same time and I've seen decisions for History at Balliol (not to scare you!) so maybe you should phone up the college or e-mail?
Somebody was saying on here that because of the snow their college had scanned the letter in and emailed it to them so it shouldn't interfere with finding out I don't think

One guy's got one at Balliol so far that I can see, but if the thing about the e-mails is true then I guess that's Game Over... :/

Nahh, I'm sure it's different for each college. They're hardly going to check the weather in every region where candidates are waiting so maybe they think they've already got your letter? Plus most of the rejections I've seen, on tsr anyways, are to foreign students. I'm sure I'll see you at Oxford soon enough

Let's hope so

Thanks very much, It'd be nice to at least vaguely know someone who went to Oxford/be an internet accquaintance of someone  If I get an interview, I'll let you know

Just be grateful that you don't have to do Disciplines :sadnod: Each essay makes me die a little bit inside ...

Disciplines can be very interesting, if you just give it a chance and don't relegate it to something of secondary importance. But I have to admit it is quite poorly taught by many colleges
Still no word from Oxford, does anybody think it would be excessive to email them if I haven't heard by 5pm today/
Forget that last comment as I literally just got a letter inviting me to interview at my college of preference- St Hugh's!

Well done!

They said at Balliol that the letters were sent off yesterday for History but I'm not sure when they'll get here :frown: It's going to be "the next few days" D:

My letter was sent first class and arrived today, the date said it was only sent yesterday so I'd say you'll probably get yours tomorrow. Don't worry Balliol are known for being a very slow college I'm sure you'll be fine, good luck!

I got my letter through from Worcester today for French & History at last! Also post-marked yesterday so Worcs must be taking their time, although joint honours may itself add on abit of extra time. Now for the fun part :s-smilie:

I do feel a bit sorry for the professors having to do all that marking and the interviews on top of their research and actually lecturing/tutorialing (I know that's not a word but if that's the attitude Shakespeare had taken where would we be?).
