Unit 3 was quite easy as well - pretty straight forward, no tough questions!

wot did u lot put for the very last question on unit1, why tht molecule didnt have permanant dipole?

It was sort of symetrical - cl atoms around the Si atom, so overall it was negative. So didnt have a positive sticking out. I.e. Couldnt be aligned in an electric field

although the bonds are polar, it's symmetrical, so they cancel out overall

molecule is symmetrical so individual dipoles in Si-Cl bonds cancel. I drew a diagram using vectors to show to the examiner they would cancel.

Unit 2 was straight forward as long as you had learnt the organic reactions. I think it was about the same as unit 3 - both pretty easy.

Unit 2 was ok as well... I think i messed up the enthalpy change q in 3B.... i used 5g as the mass in the H=mcT equation to find deltaH... You were supposed to use 50 rite??
