The Student Room Group

I hate having an hourglass figure.

According to websites I have read, it is currently 'the ideal' size due to it's perfect proportion and balance. Apparently a lot of guys like it too.

It would be great if you could just walk about in underwear all the time - I have no problem finding amazing looking, beautifully fitting underwear.

But nice clothes are impossible to find. Jeans and trousers always look frumpy. Skirts make me look round. Shirt gape at the bust. V-necked jumpers etc. remind me of my old geography teacher who in turn reminded me of an 18th century governess.

Everything is wrong. I love fashion, I love dressing up, I love shopping...my wardrobe is full of accessories and shoes because I hate myself in most clothes. I wish I was a size 4.

Ok, rant over. Anyone else feel the same? Am I missing something?

Did that rant/post help you overcome your insecurities? :lolwut:

If you're sexy, you would look good in everything.

You're missing something.

I have the same shape, but I love it. With the right clothes, you can do anything.

Make sure everything you get is FITTED. That's the most important thing.

Jeans: Bootcut is good
Skirts: Pencil will look FANTASTIC
Tops: There are loads out there, just keep trying. I love wearing shirts (but be prepared to pay for ones that fit!). T-shirts are fine, and there are some lovely necklines out there. Don't go for round neck tops though. I don't seem to have a problem with v-necks?

Alright then.

Good for you, I hate not having waist.

Wow what.

And today, I went out to a pub and there was a woman of about 45 who was wearing almost exactly the same thing as me (she basically looked the same in it-as my bf so sensitively pointed out) - so I have a middle aged body type and can only wear middle aged clothing
I am the same. My blouse right now is baggy on the waist and bursting at the seams on my breasts. My skinny jeans fit my hips but not my legs or waist. It irritates me.

Pics of this figure? Surely you should be happy about it.

Gross, I wouldn't touch a size 4 with a very long pole. Starving Ethiope is not a good look. Curvy hourglass figures all the way.
Aw, you poor people.

This thread is meaningless without pictures.

pic would be helpful please!
I don't see why clothes don't fit you right....if you look good in underwear then surely you'll look good in a tight top and some tight jeans....and i'm sure dresses would look good......i for one wouldn't want to be a size 4!.....curves look better....

I always feel the same way, i see skinny girls and think they look so much nicer in fashionable clothes than i do

..

but then I stop whining, put on my grown-up girl pants and get on with it. Works for me
Pics would be useful, as people are saying. Even an idea of your height and clothes size would be progress.

Ice_Queen's post is good. If you really struggle to find stuff that fits, then you'll really value clothes that do work - why not find something versatile and then get it altered to fit you perfectly? If you have 2 pairs of great jeans that you've got altered to fit, then you'll love wearing them and won't need a huge array of other jeans.
You're probably just fat.
